Please consider making time for this important webinar next week. Traditionally in situ thermal remediation (ISTR) is best known for CVOC contamination but many people are still unaware that thermal can be used to treat manufactured gas plant (MGP) contamination and this may be a large growth area for consultants to better serve your clients remedial needs. Even if you can't make the webinar, please register and you will be sent a recording of the webinar. Have a great weekend! #TCH #ISTR #thermalremediation #terratherm
Tackling the remediation of a manufactured gas plant (MGP) site can be expensive as well as hazardous for workers and the community. How can you reduce costs and increase safety? Register for next week's pre-recorded webinar in which thermal technology expert John LaChance reviews in situ thermal remediation (ISTR), a safe and cost-competitive alternative. John will introduce the primary ISTR technologies, discuss key design considerations, and present a real-life example of an MGP site remediated with ISTR. You’ll be able to ask questions, too! https://lnkd.in/gwadb5zv

In our Oil & Gas Tech Tip of the Month, Eric Uutala reminds us to take cold weather into account for product selection: “With winter months coming up, it may be time to prepare your equipment for extended cold weather storage. As you consider your next steps, it is also important to consider the preservation products you are using, and their tolerance to cold weather conditions for both storage and application. To combat this, Cortec® has developed a series of “Winterized” products meant for use in cold weather months. With a freezing point of -47 °F (-44 °C), VpCI®-337 Winterized can be used as a cold weather alternative to our standard VpCI®-337 for internal fogging applications. If other hydrotesting or water flushing operations are needed, VpCI®-649 Winterized is a better option. With a freezing point of -36 °F (-38 °C), the product can be stored outside and on site, rather than in a heated warehouse. We know that preservation doesn’t stop in the winter, so reach out to Cortec® for help with all your needs!” https://ow.ly/SGCE50PTyhj #Cortec #VCI #VpCI #corrosionprotection #ecofriendlyproducts #sustainability #enviroment #ecoconscious #innovation

Excellent EPRI white paper on BESS. Published in November 2023 "The Evolution of Battery Energy Storage Safety Codes and Standards" is excellent and a must-read for BESSperts. As well as providing an easy-to-read overview of BESS standards it highlights the major improvements in BESS safety made in recent years. I note with extreme interest and hope that "....there is a proposal to modify NFPA 855 to prohibit the use of clean agent or aerosol fire suppression systems unless UL 9540A testing can demonstrate that use of such systems does not present a deflagration hazard.". Fingers crossed...... #bess #lithiumionbatteries #lithiumionbattery https://lnkd.in/eGstC5k4

The new EPA rules for Effluent Limits from Steam Electric Power plants are going to be hard to satisfy short of a zero liquid discharge solution. Heartland's Concentrator is a proven solution for FGD ZLD (as well as power plant leachate ZLD) and will be a go-to solution for the power industry.
The case study Heartland Water Technology’s LM-HT Concentrator Provides ZLD Treatment of FGD Purge Water Using Flue gas as Thermal Energy Source details a demonstration project by Heartland, in partnership with The Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI). The project evaluated the Heartland LM-HT® Concentrator's capability to treat Flue Gas Desulfurization (#FGD) purge water to Zero Liquid Discharge (#ZLD) using flue gas as the thermal energy source. Over the course of 14 days 10,000 gallons of wastewater were treated with a net volume reduction of 90-95%. https://lnkd.in/e8Kgz9SF #power #powerplants #purgewater #industrialwastewater #zeroliquiddischarge #fluegasdesulfurization #wastewaterevaporation #onsite #solutions

APEX Group is proud to be part of the ESWET - European Suppliers of Waste-to-Energy Technology Task Force on Heat. We are certain that this platform – which brings together members of the ESWET community – will generate many constructive conversations that will highlight the importance of the Waste-to-Energy industry in the ongoing green transition. At APEX Group, heat transfer solutions are at the core of our expertise. We believe that it is the most promising way to increase the efficiency of large-scale, industrial applications, including in the Waste-to-Energy industry. In other words, heat transfer solutions will play a key role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and operation costs. We look forward to contributing our knowledge to this pool of collective expertise. #wastetoenergy #innovation #sustainability #heatexchangers
🚀ESWET launches a new Task Force to explore the full potential of heat in Waste-to-Energy! ⚙This initiative aims to monitor, analyse, and contribute to the evolving landscape of heat technologies. The members of the Task Force will focus especially on mapping the feasibility, benefits, and challenges of heat applications for WtE, assessing at the same time the EU legal framework concerning aspects of heat production and recovery. 🙌 The new Task Force is chaired by Jens Kitzhofer from Apex Heat Transfer! 📢 ICYMI! The U.S. DOT’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) has submitted its Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) on CO2 pipelines to OMB for review. Key topics likely to be addressed in the proposed rule include 1. Operational and maintenance considerations for all phases of carbon dioxide (supercritical, gas phase, etc.) including leak detection methods 2. Requirements for estimating the potential impact radius for carbon dioxide leaks 3. Material testing and qualification for repurposing pipelines 4. Requirements for emergency preparedness and response 5. Underground storage facilities Details of the NPRM are not public until the OMB review is complete, and then they will be published in the Federal Register. #ccus #co2 #phmsa https://lnkd.in/g5kiVqSw

Besides being an interesting case study, this will highlight how we overcame several unique challenges.
Step into The Largest Steam Project in the World This Wednesday, Steffen Griepke Nielsen, VP of Technology at TerraTherm, Inc. accompanied by Stuart Pearson, Principal Environmental Engineer at WSP will be sharing how the team designed and implemented the largest SEE project ever seen to address an estimated spill of 1 to 11.1 million gallons of jet fuel. That is a lot to treat! To do so the team had to select equipment capable of withstanding extreme conditions and high contaminant loads. Register for this webinar today to learn how they utilized the recovered LNAPL as an auxiliary fuel source for the vapor treatment system. Register Now: https://lnkd.in/gTcDcP6n
