Many major European cities are considering banning diesel trucks in urban centers to reduce noise and air pollution. Electric trucks and vans can take their place, but transitioning to EVs at scale requires careful planning for hidden risks. EVs have the potential to magnify the numerous advantages of public transportation. Electric buses, for instance, do not have direct emissions, unlike their internal combustion engine (ICE) counterparts. Not only is this great for the environment, but it also provides a much more pleasant living experience for people in urbanised areas. #ElectricVehicles are also a great solution for noise pollution. Since EVs do not vibrate like ICE vehicles’ engines, they produce very little noise. On an economic level, #EVs largely benefit from lower fuel costs, less maintenance (given fewer moving parts), and longer vehicle lifespans. This can help reduce the financial burden of maintaining public transportation on the municipal budget. ⚡🚛 By 2035, electric trucks will not only match the performance of diesel trucks but will also be more cost-effective in ownership and maintenance. 🌐💰 Embracing zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles will not only cut costs but also contribute to a cleaner, greener future for trucking. Let's urge lawmakers to set ambitious CO2 targets for trucks to drive the most cost-efficient and sustainable transition. #ElectricTrucks #ZeroEmission #SustainableTransportation #FutureOfTrucking https://lnkd.in/dbbHddBB

Just looking back on my experience in driving adoption of new products/services; EV’s also face similar challenges when it comes to acceptance. Sure, the torque is there, they operate in a clean manner… until we get to the tires and the particulates that are strewn about in the name of saving the planet. This is a problem that the manufacturers must fix in order to facilitate wider adoption. I’m not willing to forego gas simply for another problem to become worse; especially when it comes to our air and water. #EV #electriccars #greencars

Benefits of Electric School Buses: Zero tailpipe pollution, reduced maintenance costs, less brake wear due to regenerative braking and no engine or exhaust system maintenance, potential for reduced fuel costs, quiet, clean operation, potential for fleets to partner with local utilities to feed power back into the grid when buses are not in use and electricity demand is high #backtoschool #ev #evschoolbus #schoolbusconversion #maketheswitch #bluedotenergies #thefutureofenergyisblue

Even if you choose a worst-case scenario – vehicles made and driven with electricity largely from coal – the electric car will win out after about 70,000km (about six years of driving). #sustainability #EV The Guardian https://lnkd.in/d-3UWcgD

Ev's can help to reduce noise pollution. Legislation mandates Electric Vehicles (EVs) emit a sound of at least 56 Decibels to ensure pedestrian safety—equivalent to an electric toothbrush. Though this might seem contrary to reducing noise pollution, EVs emit significantly less noise compared to traditional petrol or diesel cars. As EV adoption grows, fewer noisy vehicles will populate our streets, leading to quieter communities. Switching to EVs not only benefits the environment but also contributes to a quieter, more peaceful world, reducing negative impacts on humans and wildlife alike. How far do you need to drive an electric truck before the overall climate impact is lower than that of a diesel counterpart? This is the question our Scania researchers investigated in a recent study that calculated the approximate cradle-to-grave carbon footprint of a battery electric truck, 40 tons gross train weight, regional haulage, compared with a diesel counterpart. Our answer? The CO2 break-even point is at 37 000 kilometres, when there is access to green electricity and 59 000 kilometres when charging with average electricity. This low milage demonstrates that in the first year of operation, the overall climate impact of the BEV (battery electric vehicle) is lower than that of a diesel vehicle, even without actively choosing green electricity. #ScaniaTrucks #ScaniaClimateImpactStudy #Electrification #ScaniaSustainbleSolutions #DrivingTheShift #ScaniaSA
