As I prepare for the work week and close the door on a wonderful holiday, I picked up an old favorite of the Ontra sales team. John McMahon’s classic, The Qualified Sales Leader, is filled with enough wisdom to keep me coming back for infinitely more read throughs. Within the first few minutes of reading I was struck by one particular line. “Learning happens in the struggle.” McMahon goes on to call out that reps must learn not only from each other’s wins, but also from their mistakes. The same is true for every professional. ICs, managers, team leaders, executives. While it’s hard to wear our mistakes or our struggles with pride, we must remember to acknowledge and even celebrate our missteps because when we falter we can grow exponentially. The errors may be painful, but that pain is fleeting. When we take the time to acknowledge and share our struggles, the lessons learned can permanently change us. #salesleadership #salesexcellence #sales #leadershipdevelopment
