Career Coach | LinkedIn Top Voice💡 | Speaker | Recruiter - 6 Years + Michael Page | ex-Citi | ex-Deutsche | CUHK - Global Business
🔥 My mom called me crazy when I quit banking to work in recruitment 💰To her, money and status > happiness and fulfilment 🔑 When I graduated in 2015, I joined the Management Associate Program at Citi ICG, which was a 2 year rotation program across different departments including Investment Banking, Sales & Trading and Private Banking. ☀️ My mom was really proud of me as this program only admitted 5 graduates in Hong Kong that year. She thought the external title of Citi and Investment Banking would bring our family pride. I understand that many Asian parents like to compare their kids and so does mine. ☀️ The people I met at Citi were really smart and nice. They taught me a lot about the financial market and they were talented at their jobs. However, I did not feel the work was interesting. Hence, I switched to recruitment and I realised the importance of exploring different industries before settling onto one. Even though there was a pay cut, I enjoy my job a lot at Michael Page and have been working in the same industry for almost 7 years. 🔑My mom still does not understand why I changed my job up till today. (Mom, in case you have an LinkedIn account, please reply to this 🤣🤣) She feels money and prestige are more important than happiness and self-fulfillment because she believes once you have enough money, you can gain happiness in the free time. (I kind of agree and disagree in some way: Granted money is important). Our values differ a lot and I respect our differences. Today, I am still trying to explain to her having worked in my job for 7 years 🤣 ✅ How about you? ✅ Do your parents agree with what you are doing? ✅ Have you come across a difficult life decision and how did you pick in the end?

Analyst @ Deutsche Bank |Harvard HPAIR'24| Ex- intern @ CBRE |Finance and Artificial intelligence content writer| CFA Aspirant| Investing
I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Analyst at Deutsche Bank! I am deeply appreciative of this new phase in my life and anticipate gaining valuable knowledge and experience from this opportunity. Firstly, I want to thank Jindal School of Banking & Finance and O.P. Jindal Global University (JGU) for giving me a platform to learn from and network with the best Professors and students. I want to thank my professors for not only providing the right guidance and teaching but also for inspiring me to think bigger and achieve the best in life. All the off-topic conversations I had with my professors about my career in finance and consulting, whether it was a discussion on their opinion on matters related to their course or them sharing about their own experience in the field of academics or corporate life, those 10- to 20-minute conversations with them really shaped my ability to think beyond my limited idea of the world. To my Professors and teachers: Dr. Ashish Bharadwaj ,Anand Mishra ,Dr. Raj Kumar Poddar ,Harshal Mulay ,Malvika Chhatwani ,Pulkit Taluja, Ph.D., CFA ,R Sai Shiva Jayanth ,Kanchan Sehrawat ,Ram B. Ramachandran ,Dr. Jeevan Deep Sehgal (Ph.D.) ,Pulkit Khanna , Ph.D. ,Dr. Ritesh Batra , Pulkit Khanna , Ph.D. ,Keerti Pendyal , Deepak Maun ,avinash godbole ,Shohini Sengupta , Prof. Gagan Kumar Kwatra Thanks for shaping me and numerous other students mindsets to think about and achieve the best in career and life and for helping me find my areas of interest and for consistently inspiring me to achieve and be better. As a young student when I joined my college Jindal School of Banking & Finance I always wanted to pursue a career in finance, I started with reading the best content available about share market, investment banking and Finance in general, that pushed my curiosity which led me to doing things to further develop my base in the similar fields, I started as a finance content writer writing about my understanding and opinion on relevant issues , I started my investing journey in share market, going through equity research reports and applying fundamental and technical analysis before investing in a stock gave me a platform to apply all learning which was part of courses at my college, then I jumped into doing internships at renowned Finance centric and consulting firms, and now I have finally landed here at Deutsche Bank . To summarise, reaching good places is always a step-by-step process, and You can't skip any chapter of this book. Constant research, learning, and reading about the field of your interest area is the biggest hack that anyone can do without any major investments. This is where everything starts. To all my Family members, friends, seniors, juniors, and batch mates who acted as my support system and all my teachers and professors who gave me the right guidance and support, I will always be grateful to all of you, and I will work really hard to make sure you are all always proud of me.🙌

23' Master of Science, International Trade, Strategy and Operations | University of Warwick | Seeking entry-level opportunities in the UK | Accountant Assistant | Audit | Finance | Business Analyst
I am grateful to have participated in the HSBC Finance Graduate Panel Discussion today. This event provided me with valuable insights into not only what to expect from the program and what it’s like for a new graduate to enter the finance/banking industry. 🙌 🙌🙌 🌟🌟After listening to it, I would like to share some helpful insights that I gained: 1️⃣ Always having curiosity and a willingness to learn. This mindset not only facilitates your integration into the company culture but also accelerates your professional development. It enables you to ask insightful questions, seek out learning opportunities, and embrace the continuous changes and challenges that come with any workplace. 2️⃣ Showing a continuity between a niche in a background through your years in University and the career journey you are particularly dedicating to. In other words, companies often seek grad candidates who demonstrate a consistent interest in a specific area throughout their university years, leading into their professional path. They value individuals with specialized knowledge and traits in the field rather than those with a broad skill set acquired over 20 years. Essentially, firms give preference to recent graduates who bring fresh, niche expertise and enthusiasm to the table over those with vast experience. Highlighting your distinct abilities and passions is key to distinguishing yourself in the interview. #hsbc #hsbcuk #hsbccareers #graduatecareers
