At C3, we're shaking up the insurance industry by redefining the privately held insurance brokerage firm. Our 5 C’s - Care, Collaborate, Creative, Curious and Celebrate highlight our family first culture. In my new role as Executive Vice President of Client Services I will work to align our client services, vendors, processes, training and development across all departments and practice groups.
I fell into insurance at a young age by accident. I was a military spouse, and it was the chance to have a career that allowed me to work the same hours during a time of possible deployment. In 2009 I became the first remote employee at an agency that allowed me to use our management system to create a fully remote work strategy. Fast forward through COVID, and C3 fearlessly opens the door to hiring and promoting remote leaders and team members all over the US.
If you want a reliable job that lets you work from home, consider insurance. I’ve seen firsthand, and know dozens of women who agree, that an insurance career offers chances to grow professionally while also allowing you the work life balance to be leader, a wife, and a mother. My C3 journey just keeps getting better and better.

Last year I was selected to attend the Mid-Level Manager Symposium hosted by The Executive Leadership Council (ELC), which was designed to amplify the successes of Black professionals and empower them to create meaningful careers; I still struggle to put into words just how valuable that event was for me. Although I had so many great takeaways, the one I find myself going to back to time and time again is this concept of PIE: Performance, Impact/Image, Exposure. This model highlights the value of Performance and Impact but also expresses the importance of exposure and how it is the biggest slice of the pie.
I can be doing all the right things, but if the right people aren't aware or see me as a resource, what did I gain/impact? For me, I now see this as that part of the pie with the perfect amount of crust and filling that everyone wants to get their hands on 🥧
This is the year of exposure for myself, for those that consistently do the work in silent, for my peers, the location I work in, and the groups that I am affiliated with.
2024 is the year I craft my story and expand my network!
5 keys to success for Black men in senior leadership roles:
1. Be confident in your abilities
2. Develop a strong personal brand
3. Surround yourself with a supportive team
4. Don't be afraid to challenge the status quo
5. Seek out professional development opportunities

We are proud of our own Ina Kota and Silvana Zenere who contributed to the recently published Association of Executive Search and Leadership Consultants (AESC) report, "Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion: Creating Competitive Advantage Through Fairness, Inclusion and Belonging."
In its research, AESC asked business leaders to identify the highest impact DEI strategies in their organizations. The top three strategies are:
1. Foster a safe and inclusive environment.
2. Communicate the importance of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
3. Leadership is publicly committed.
