It was July 6 years ago that we took on an empty warehouse in South Bermondsey, & we began building... from the ground up. People often ask me, does it matter that you have your own brewery? They're right in one sense, as there are plenty of brands out there who don’t. For us it’s the beating heart of Small Beer - where we innovate, raise glasses with our customers, celebrate birthdays, successes (& failures). It’s where we learn, grow, & build the team that is going to change the future of beer drinking; one bottle, can, tap, bartender, manager, owner & customer at a time. I remember the sheer excitement of receiving our Brewer's License through the post in 2017. That was when we were a team of 2. Just Felix James & I. Now I look around the Small Beer Brewery, and we're 21 people - a team of Big Thinkers who will change the global perception of what beer can be. Cheers to the next 6 years!!! James Small Beer Brew Co. #business #startup #learning #growing #leading #sustainabilitymatters #thinkbig
It was this time six years ago that Small Beer first officially became a business. 🖊 In 2017 we started with a big dream, a passion for beer, and a team of two (James Grundy & Felix James). Now in 2023, we have a passionate crew of 20+ people working hard and thinking big to take Small Beer forward. From brewing in a shed in our back garden to a purpose-built brewery and taproom in the heart of South London, it's been quite the journey so far. We are immensely proud of how far we have come in just six short years and are incredibly excited about what the future holds. Here's to another six! 🍻

Becca and I stopped by the local drive-in and got a root beer float the other day. I always take home some root beer by itself when we go. You can see the product in this video. B & K Root Beer Stand is one of those old school drive-in, eat in your car type places from the 50’s and 60’s. When your product and your brand are so good and so old, You can sell your it in clear plastic milk jugs, And people still know what it is. B&K has been in business for 85 years. This is an amazing accomplishment for ANY businesss. Average age of a Fortune 500 company? 15 years. That’s an amazing figure to me. That means there are things I can learn from a business like B&K that I can’t learn from one of the big companies. IMHO, the first place to start is the product. It’s the best root beer I’ve ever tasted, and that fact has kept me coming back my entire life. Literally. When Becca and I bought this house, one of the deciding factors was its proximity to our B&K Rootbeer Stand. No joke. It wasn’t the most important thing, but it was a deciding factor. It’s a e-bicycle ride away now! I can’t believe my good fortune. #StayinAliveWithRootbeer 🫚🍺 Music by: The Bee Gee’s, “Stayin’ Alive”

WSET Educator Development Manager Educator, Communicator, & Entertainer. Ambassador Viña Ventisquero Ambassador Flavours Of Spain Panel Chair: The Independent English Wine Awards Cohost The Maker & The Merchant
Despite what you may think about TM&TM (and you're probably right), we somehow keep getting interviews with incredibly high profile, smart, and talented guests. This time around we are delighted to talk to the enormously talented, trend-setting, winemaking wonder that is Zoë Driver. Given her stature and credibility within wine, you may expect us to take things a little more seriously. If that's what you really expect, you've clearly stumbled upon this pod by accident. Fergus Elias inflicts his game of [guest name] Doo [guest name] Don't upon poor Zoë but in so doing manages to get under the skin of her approach to winemaking and thoughts on sparkling wine production. Prepare for some #clonechat. Zoë talks to us about the current range at TM&TM favourite Black Chalk Wine and also clues us in to some exciting new releases and in so doing, gives us an insight into the incredible creativity that is to be found in English wine. I continue my quest to prove that everyone else is just better at what they do than Ferg. Zoë proves to be a much kinder judge in these areas than me and there is disparity in scoring. We would like to assure listeners that a full, independent review is under way. Of course, Ferg also sets out to establish just how good a Driver Zoë is with his ill thought out 'Nominative Determinism' experiment. TM&TM would like to wholeheartedly apologise to Zoë for this experience. It's a good one, carried entirely by the magnificent Zoë and you should give it a listen when it pops into your podfeeds on Thursday morning. Our enormous thanks to the one, the only, the phenomenally brilliant Zoë Driver.

Today we published results for the 2022/23 financial year, demonstrating strong net sales growth of +11% across our portfolio of Irish whiskeys. This was primarily driven by Jameson, now a top 3 selling international whiskey brand, which achieved net sales growth of +10% globally. Our prestige portfolio, which is comprised of Redbreast, Midleton Very Rare, Spot Whiskeys, Method and Madness and Knappogue Castle experienced +22% net sales growth while Powers continued to attract new consumers recording net sales growth of +18%, primarily driven by the US market. The notable growth of Jameson in Asian markets (+56%), including India, China, South Korea, and Japan reflects the continued globalisation of the Jameson brand and a growing affinity for Irish whiskey among consumers. These results demonstrate the success of our business strategy to diversify Jameson and our prestige portfolio, with more consumers around the world getting to know and love our portfolio of Irish whiskeys. https://lnkd.in/eKGVYPVm #IrishWhiskey
