What an evening for Delta Dallas! Friday night we were able to celebrate our very own Tomi Roan Morriss for receiving the award for HR Volunteer Leader of The Year, while our President Kim Follis SHRM ~ SCP was given the honor of presenting the HR Executive of The Year For a Small Company to Cheri Garcia 🎉
We also want to highlight the continuous efforts Delta Dallas has made as an organization to impact the Human Resources community here in Dallas, not too long ago our President Kim won the same award as Tomi back in 2014! We are so grateful to have a team that is dedicated to serving and enriching our HR community.

I am not usually one for long LinkedIn posts and the humble brag flavour of some posts is not really my thing. That being said, I have been reflecting over the last couple of weeks on the amazing achievement of the HR Team at Robertson Group and of course our win at the recent HR Network Scotland awards for HR Team of the Year.
The voice in the back of my head has been saying that we should just say thanks for the award and move on, as we still have lots to do. We should be humble and quietly accept any recognition, with no fanfare. This would have been my default, until I witnessed the impact of that #hrna23 win over the last couple of weeks, firstly what it meant to the team lucky enough to have attended the awards ceremony on the actual night. Secondly the continuing impact it has had on the rest of the team not only on the morning after but continually throughout the proceeding 2 weeks. So we will be prolonging the celebration as long as we can.
We in the HR profession tend to be of the “let’s just get on with it” variety, not really wanting to blow our own trumpets, we are often the unsung heroes of most organisations. I once described us a bit like the AA, you wonder why you have membership but are glad you did on a wet and windy evening, when that yellow van arrives to help you with your broken-down car. Or maybe more apt would be that we are like the preventive maintenance you should have had done to stop the breakdown in the first place, if only you had listened to the advice of that technical expert.
So, after some thought and obviously quite a bit of rambling, I have concluded that not only are professional awards great to win, but that they should also be seen as an employee engagement opportunity. They are of course a chance to showcase the HR profession and those highly skilled professionals within it, taking us from the backroom to front and centre. It also brings the amazing work that HR teams carry out to the fore, meaning People is once again driven up the corporate agenda.
So, thanks again to Lee Turner and the team at Hr NETWORK Magazine for the amazing night at #hrna23 , and of course it goes without saying a massive thanks to each one of the award-winning HR Team at Robertson. We are already planning for #hrna24
