I am not here to post gyan on management lessons from Rahul Dravid and leadership lessons from Rohit Sharma 😊 #t20WC2024. 🏏 Just wanted to share that our own cricket team - The #BriBooks Cricket Club - played and lost a very close game against SplashLearn on the same day India won the World Cup. The match had a very similar scorecard and results, except that we were playing without some of our key players. Yet, the emotions were not of dejection but of happiness. Cricket for most of us is not merely a sport but an emotion. Personally, I am lucky to be able to play the sport at the age of 38. It is an amazing way to spend the weekend with friends and colleagues (including former ones). It's one where we play different roles. Dynamics are different and so are the leaders. Instead of being the leader, I play under the captaincy and leadership of folks like Yash , Yogesh and Paurush. A game of cricket is an amazing test of leadership and team spirit. The fact that we were able to take the game close to the wire with a heavily depleted team helped us bond better and stronger. 🏏 The recent release of the ICC promo for the 2023 Men's Cricket World Cup has left a bitter taste in the mouths of cricket fans worldwide. 😡 The video appears to portray only India as the sole participant in the tournament, conveniently forgetting the existence of other competitive teams and players. This blatant favoritism towards India and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is a slap in the face to other cricketing nations. Pakistan, a team consistently ranked second in the ODI rankings, is shockingly given minimal representation in the promo. This snub is amplified by the exclusion of Pakistan captain Babar Azam, the top-ranked ODI batsman for the past two years. It is clear that the promo's creators are showcasing peak insecurity and jealousy, unable to acknowledge the success of other talented players. 😠 The narration of the promo is done by Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan and it has added some glitz to the video, however, it does nothing to disguise the hypocrisy and favoritism rampant within the cricketing world. India has significant financial influence over world cricket, pouring money from various sectors, but turning a prestigious competition like the World Cup into their own personal show of dominance is unacceptable. This act of epic jealousy undermines the spirit of fair competition that the World Cup is meant to embody. 😤 🌍 It is disheartening to see cricket, once a sport that brought nations together, becoming increasingly polarized. With the rise of lucrative T20 leagues and the evident partiality shown towards certain teams, cricket's future looks bleak. It is a sad reality that in the coming years, only a few major teams will dominate the sport, and the once-global appeal of cricket will be lost. 😞 The promo is great, but less representation of other cricket boards has left me unhappy. Now that the T20 Cricket World Cup(mens) has reached its Conclusive end it is imperative for us to understand the factors at play. Toss is going to be important but the pitches in West Indies especially Antigua have been much better than the curated pitches at USA. Afgahnistan is indeed the dark horse and South Africa will have to play a caluculated game like achess master if they are to overtake the Giant Killers. India again have played well so far but they need to undersatnd that each game is different,composition,strtegy has to cahnge as per local conditions.We have often seen India falter at the final step,it is important for Rohit to be clinical like with the Aussies. The innings of Rohit sharma proved to be the difference.Virat Kohli has not fired nor has Jadeja.Management needs to take calculated call understanding the pros&cons.
