Today is a great reminder of how successful paper recycling is in the U.S. The 2022 paper and cardboard recycling rates were just released by American Forest & Paper Association. Nearly 68% of paper was recycled in 2022 and more than 93% of cardboard. That’s due in part to your efforts to recycle dry and clean paper products. These consistently high recycling numbers also underscore our industry’s commitment to improving paper recycling. Did you know that the paper industry recycles nearly 70% more paper today than it did in 1990? And, the industry has completed or announced nearly $7 billion in manufacturing investments from 2019-2025 that will use more than 9 million tons of recovered fiber. We’re committed to advancing both a sustainable future and the circular economy through our Better Practices, Better Planet 2030 sustainability goals. Thank you for doing your part! Please keep up the good work and recycle those paper products! https://lnkd.in/e9-N7RPC

Resolution of the Quiz: 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘁𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗺 𝗼𝘅𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘆𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟯? 🥁🥁 And the right answer to our poll is…🥁🥁 ... 25 tons!! 😲 We are really proud of this! 💪 And in 2024 we expect to quadruple this number to reach 100 tons. We have set ambitious goals for the future in order to make Walter a truly sustainable company: 🌱 By 2030, the CO2 emissions of the entire company will be halved, and products and packaging will be made from 90 percent recycled material. 🌿 The creation of fair and safe working conditions by 2030, in which employees can continue to develop personally. In 2023 we launched our “Create the Change” campaign to showcase all the great work our teams are doing with regards to sustainability. To achieve the 2030 goal we implement and share new ways of working: One example is that a recycling company can recycle our used aluminum oxide so we can use it again. Another example - inserts are brought into their final shape as precisely as possible in the shaping and geometry process step. This usually eliminates the need for peripheral grinding, which saves energy and reduces hazardous wastes. In addition, our efforts have resulted in reaching the EcoVadis gold metal ranks for the second time after 2021.🥇 Thank you for participating! #waltertools #sustainability #createthechange #recycling #machining

💡 Reminder 💡 talk on Tuesday, October 17, at 1:30 pm on the topic of “How to properly implement a circular economy in the packaging industry.” 💡 register now
Mechanical recycling is a key element of a circular economy. However, it is not always possible to replace high-performance film structures with single-material solutions that can be mechanically recycled without making compromises in terms of material efficiency and carbon footprints. To keep high-performance films recyclable as well, additional recycling technologies are necessary. This means chemical recycling will have a key role to play in the future as a complementary technology. During the INDUSTRY.forward EXPO, Dirk Hardow (Business Unit Manager Functional Films & Compounds) from #SÜDPACK will give a talk on Tuesday, October 17, at 1:30 pm on the topic of “How to properly implement a circular economy in the packaging industry.” 👉🏼 Register here free of charge: https://lnkd.in/euMEu4MJ #circulareconomy #chemicalrecycling #mechanicalrecycling #industryforwardexpo
