When it comes to high winds, preparation is key. While you can't control the weather, you can control how ready you are for it. If you're driving, keep your distance from larger vehicles, semi-trucks, or anything towing cargo, as they're more prone to tipping over or losing control. And at home, make sure to keep blinds closed and secure any outdoor items to prevent damage. Check out this short video to learn more: https://lnkd.in/gjA_N84i

There have already been 1662 lightning strikes this month in the UK and today’s weather 🌦️ will add to that total. A common question asked is; Why do you see the lightning before you hear thunder: You see lightning before you hear thunder because light travels faster than sound, it travels at a speed of approximately 299,792 kilometers per second (about 186,282 miles per second) from a stationary source. where as sound travels 1 miles in 4.69 seconds but this can fluctuate depending of the temperature of the air it is travel through. When lightning occurs, the light it generates reaches your eyes almost instantly, while the sound of thunder, which is caused by the rapid expansion and contraction of air around the lightning bolt, takes longer to reach you. The speed of light is significantly faster than the speed of sound, creating the visual perception of seeing lightning first and then hearing thunder even though they happen at the same time 🕰️ In summary, thunder and lightning are the products of electrical activity within storm clouds, with lightning being the visible discharge of electricity and thunder being the sound produced by the rapid heating and cooling of the air around the lightning bolt, they happen simultaneously but because light travels much faster than sound, you see the lightning first! Under the fire safety bill the Duty Holder of a premises is legally responsible for the safety of people and fire risks must be controlled. Lightning can be a source of ignition, are your people and property adequately protected against this risk? If not, we can help! https://lnkd.in/diH_S4xT #lighting #lightningprotection #thunder #omega #sheqman https://lnkd.in/eu8PahWn
