Building confidence and empowering learning as the Director of Learning @ iArticulate, Founder of Discoveryoutdoors.org connecting young people in Sheffield to their local environment.
Online software like Miro are powerful tools for collaboration. Did you know you can build reports from Miro content? Or that you can create individual environments within a single shared canvas? We construct our online collaborations using Miro because the tools are flexible in design and tactile for participants. Collated information can be sent to a report through an Ai function and shared easily. This enables us to support long term mentoring relationships. We provide our mentee schools their own collaborative environments so they can continue their progress between our meetings. We love the connection of in person visits. We also know the financial challenge that creates for many schools. And then there’s carbon of course. Jonathan Smith and I can support your programme development from a distance through effective, motivating collaboration. Get in touch if an outside voice and mentor can support your programme development. www.iarticulatementors.org hello@iarticulatementors.org Cheers!
Yesterday, iArticulate held its pilot Monthly Meeting Series workshop! We had a great time talking about our 2023-24 school year, and thinking of ways to start 2024-25 with a bang :). Thanks to all who participated. We reflected on how we are doing with the Approaches to Learning (AtLs). Did we effectively lead students to develop their Thinking, Communication, Social, Research and Self-Management skills? And what were our biggest challenges? Lots of good ideas shared. What does it REALLY mean to develop these skills? This is worthy of deep consideration. As important, and less often considered: how are we doing with Approaches to Teaching (AtTs)? This is more challenging for most schools – in fact, many IB teachers are not very familiar with them. In our brainstorming and sharing, we saw disparity between the different ATTs. For example, ‘Focus on Conceptual Understanding’ seems to be a tough one to authentically address. ‘Assessment’ and ‘Inquiry’ appear to be more accessible. Why is this? And what can we do to address all of them? Our IB Subject Guides mention all of these, but how do we REALLY implement them in our pedagogy? What are your biggest challenges when it comes to AtLs and AtTs? An outside voice can make all the difference when it comes to maximizing your IB experience for teachers and students. Want to ‘up your IB game?’ Let us know. Our next Monthly Meeting will be in early August. Stay tuned! www.iarticulatementors.org #iArticulateWorkshops #ApproachesToLearning #ApproachesToTeaching #IBEducation #IBProfessionalDevelopment

Are you a new pedagogical leader? Head of department? IB Programme leader? Coordinating CAS, TOK or extended essay?Leading a change process? If you’ve taken on a new pedagogical leadership position you’ve obviously been seen as somebody with the skills and competencies to create high-quality learning experiences. Do you feel confident in sharing with your team? Do you have techniques which are effective, sustainable and above all confidence building for your team? The fact is is most of your training up to this point hasn’t included these. You have learned through observation, mentoring from senior leaders will have included it and you might have people around as sounding boards. You might be reading this message reflecting on the attitude of your community to change. You know the pressures on time and the challenge of fitting in all of the different projects and responsibilities that occur during the school year. Perhaps you are somebody that wants to understand how to plan and deliver PD that builds trust in the team around you. Perhaps you’re moving into a new school and you would like to feel armed with a support network that is understanding of your culture and context and rooting for your success Maybe a little bit of energy, motivation and camaraderie is what you need to start the year well. We would love to collaborate.

🎓💡Understanding the Significance of CAT4 in KS3 and KS4 for Online International Schools 🌍 The Cognitive Abilities Test (CAT4) presents itself as an essential tool especially within Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4). CAT4's relevance cannot be overstated, particularly in its capacity to assess students' abilities across four fundamental cognitive domains - verbal, non-verbal, quantitative reasoning and spatial thinking. At a time when online learning is increasingly becoming commonplace due to our transitioning global dynamic, understanding how students think becomes even more critical. For international schools operating primarily or entirely online 💻⚙️ , employing this assessment strategy can unlock individual learner profiles. By providing a comprehensive picture about student’s natural strengths 🏋️♀️and weaker areas 👀 , educators are better equipped to tailor instruction suitable for each child's unique style of learning irrespective where they may be located geographically on our globe. Most importantly ☝️: it goes beyond academic achievement by assessing potential instead - something that grades alone might not adequately capture. This unearths unseen talents among learners who may otherwise underperform based purely on traditional measurements but could indeed offer enormous promise with the right guidance ✨. Furthermore, such insights provide invaluable data which assist curriculum planning at both Ks3 & Ks5 stages ensuring educational content remains relevant and engaging within an digital environment! So here's food for thought – Isn't it time we dive deeper into leveraging assessments like #CAT4? #education #onlinelearning #internationalSchooling👩🎓✔ #CAT4 #assessments #onlineclassrooms
