In the Earth-moving Equipment Industry, Business is outside the dealership premises, at the project sites. The nature of job requires the sales professional to be brand ambassador of his/her company and a solution provider to the customer. He/She has to go alone to the project sites. Hence, the nature of job requires them to have the 5 qualities of 1. Integrity 2. Positive Attitude 3. Proactive 4. Resilient 5. Team Player The above are the traits I have observed in successful sales personnel in my years spent in the Earth-moving Equipment Industry. What are the influencing factors? •Type and scope of the work (body work, age of vehicle) •Repair methods (repair or replacement of components) •Maintenance intervals and repair volume per vehicle type •Sales efficiency of the service advisor.

New Vehicle Sales Consultant is to drive sales growth by identifying and meeting customer needs for new vehicles.

In your opinion, what is the most important step in the sales process? For me, it was always FACT FINDING. I could never sell anything without knowing the customers hot / cold button, wants and needs. Sell the sizzle! Also, TRIAL CLOSE. After every single test drive. I asked one question. “Is this the vehicle you see yourself taking home “TODAY?” That one question told me everything and if the answer was anything but YES, I circled back to the customers answers I learned from fact finding to figure out why the answer is not a YES. I started on the line 18 years ago and I’ll never forget the sales process framed on the wall in the sales office at Menlo Mazda. From selling $15,000 Mazda 3’s to $500,000 Rolls Royce Phantoms, my process never changed. I don’t think it is emphasized enough today that the car is sold OUTSIDE. Though every step is important and not to be skipped, in your opinion,what is the most important step?

THIS PERSON BECOMES THEIR SALES ENGINEER WHO THEN MRKETS THIS PRODUCT TO POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS, WOOING THEM TO BUY THE ENGINE. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SALES ENGINEER AND A SALESPERSON? IN THE CONTEXT OF THE ABOVE EXAMPLE: A SALESPERSON SELLS THE CAR WHILE A SALES ENGINEER SELLS THE ENGINE/TRANSMMISSION SYSTEM. ANYONE IN THE FIELD WITH MORE INSIGHTS?
