🌟 Thank You mavQ & Happy Women's History Month! 🌟
In celebration of #WomenWednesday, I'm deeply touched by mavQ's highlight of my journey and commitment to uplifting women.
If what you gain (knowledge, support, friendship, love, etc.) from personal or professional relationships were a pizza pie (I do love a good NY-style pizza 😁), then you would see pieces with different toppings. You would also learn that expecting the whole pie in any one relationship is unfair. This will open you up to more experiences, let you embrace your surroundings, and appreciate the people who come in and out of your life.
Starting my entrepreneurial career at a 5-partner startup as the only woman, with a toddler and another child on the way, was no small feat. Returning to work just four weeks after giving birth, juggling a consulting job to support our growth, and being fully present in my children's lives was a testament to the incredible support I received from my husband, family, and friends. Their unwavering belief in me allowed me to pursue my dreams, even when it meant some sacrifices along the way.
Looking back, here are a few pearls of wisdom I'd share with my younger self, and with all of you:
1. Value the Women in Your Life: The strength, support, and inspiration from women around me—friends, family, and coworkers—have been immeasurable. Cherish and lean on these relationships. I have had the good fortune to run into the most amazing women. My strong friends, inspiring leaders at work, and Chief network of strong leaders—especially my local Austin Chiefs—have been invaluable.
2. Choose Your Circle Wisely: Life's too short. Surround yourself with those who lift you up, and learn to let go of negativity.
3. Choose Happiness: It's a choice and a powerful one at that.
4. Don't Hesitate to Ask for Help: No one can read your mind. It's okay to reach out.
5. It's Okay to Say No: Overwhelm doesn't serve anyone. Prioritize and protect your peace.
Here's to continuing to break barriers, lift each other up, and thrive together. 💪🌈
