If you thought the Basel III Endgame NPR was a lot to digest and analyze, you will now have to add these proposals to the mix: new total loss absorbing capital requirements, new long-term debt requirements, and revised IDI resolution plan requirements for banks with $100 billion or more in assets. Banks with assets between $50 billion and $100 billion will also need to analysis additional resolution plan information requirements. These new proposals should be considered in conjunction with the Basel III Endgame NPR to determine the overall impact to banking organizations.

Next week we will see the Basel III Endgame NPR as FDIC staff presents a “Memorandum and resolution re: Regulatory Capital Rule: Amendments Applicable to Banking Organizations Subject to Category I, II, III or IV Standards, and to Banking Organizations with Significant Trading Activity.” No uncertainty in the title regrading the scope of application.

Nice article but true “advanced” manufacturing training in Connecticut - that geared to the latest “Industry 4.0” technologies, is not getting the attention it needs and we are falling further and further behind other states. Future generations will not see balancing overly strained budgets as a source of success or an excuse for letting CT’s manufacturing sector fade. Those welding and other Industry 2.0 jobs in such high demand in the defense industry are already transitioning to more automated systems. Witness the focus on the digital model-based definition initiative being spearheaded by CCAT for the defense industry and their supply chains. Technology moves inexorably forward. Our manufacturing technology education system must as well. If the budget isn’t there right now to fund amazing opportunities such as a state of the art Advanced Technology Education Center at Tunxis, then fight for it. Appeal to our federal delegation for help. Pursue federal grants. Find a way. Make it happen. The rewards and benefits to our state will be far greater than successfully cutting costs to meet a budget.
