I am always amazed how little folks know about the true capabilities of legitimate security contractors in Texas, or any where else in the nation. These folks get their legal advice for police officers who have an interest to mislead them on security.. Police officers have little to no knowledge of security authority (in Texas). Additionally, police officers are not attorneys. For those businesses looking for legitimate experienced security professionals like myself, we are not cheap. Operating our companies are not cheap. Experienced officers are not cheap. Cheap security is BAD.

We are hiring at the Ankeny Police Department. Below, you see the great benefits, salary, opportunities, and incentives. Honest talk: no amount of money is worth the sacrifices made when becoming a police officer. In my opinion, officers should be paid an enormous amount of money, which is why I am not a city manager; my talents are better suited to law enforcement. Money is undoubtedly important as it provides stability and comfort. The salary you receive at the Ankeny Police Department will provide that stability and comfort. However, being paid well is only a small part of the job and cannot match the emotional, physical, and mental currency you will invest into the profession. We are seeking individuals who will contribute positively to our culture, and help us maintain a successful, positive, and safe work environment. We want people who understand what they are getting into. Law enforcement is a different kind of job. On patrol, you won't get every other weekend off. Work/life balance is very important to our department, and we make every effort to make sure you achieve that balance. But sometimes, work will get in the way of life. You will make a difference in someone's life and never know it. Some people you encounter will never change. You will enter a person's life during a difficult or uncomfortable situation and will be expected to show empathy, recognize dangerous situations, and stay safe, sometimes all at once. You will make mistakes, learn from your mistakes, be receptive to constructive criticism, and continue improving. We hold each other accountable, and you will be expected to do your job every day, not sit on the sidelines. Once you're a part of our organization, it becomes your organization - we're all on the same team. You will become part of a team where the leadership has experienced how it feels to work non-stop, responding to call after call without being able to leave work at the scheduled time. That same leadership understands and knows the sacrifices each officer makes and will never take your commitment to serve and protect for granted. Along with everything I mentioned above, you will receive some great gifts: pride, satisfaction, praise, commitment, dedication, and honor. You will smile, laugh, and love the people around you. This is a different kind of job. Is this for you? Join the Ankeny Police Department.

As law enforcement officers, gaining knowledge on many topics is crucial. When it comes to finding narcotics and getting them off the street, learning how to conduct a thorough vehicle search, will lead to seizures you didn’t think were possible. It doesn’t matter if you’re a small-town street cop, large-city street cop, gang cop, narcotics investigator, interdiction officer, federal agent, or any other law enforcement officer. Everyone needs to know how to search a vehicle thoroughly and be confident in their search. @jeremy_bedingfield_sct

Holiday security PSA. Many people are going away for Christmas which makes their #WFH site easy pickings for burglars. For security reasons, it is strongly recommended to leave one of your children behind, particularly the bright one, to construct a series of elaborate booby traps which defend your interests. Also, office Christmas parties are frequently used as opportunities for criminals to circumvent security, especially in premium #office space. Ensure at least one of your employees has a curmudgeonly ex-spouse who deeply longs to reconcile and happens to be a highly-trained law enforcement officer.

The kind of questions that come to my SM inbox: "I'm a deputy in a (really small) sheriff's office that patrols a county of 2300 people and 1666 sq miles...I'm the only one that notifies dispatch of every type of service I'm doing from traffic stops and motor assistance to paper service. Do you know of any resources I can present at a staff meeting about the officer safety importance of letting dispatchers know even about serving civil or criminal papers? I should add I'm also the only one that (wears) my portable radio every shift ...service is patchy in many areas of the county. My sergeant keeps his on him in duty as well but isn't in the habit of relying on it as well as the car radio and cell phones." How would you advise him? I don't have all the answers as a writer, not a law enforcement administrator; that's why I open this stuff up for feedback. This kind of dilemma perks along out of the public view, but affecting real officers every day. #TheRuralBadge #lawenforcement #deputy #sheriff #police #mayberrysamyth #dispatch #officersafety #policecar #policewifelife #writer #podcastguest

We often get asked: What are the key differences between security and law enforcement? Here are a couple. Duties and Responsibilities: Police officers protect the public and uphold the law with extensive training and legal authority. Security guards focus on safeguarding specific properties or individuals, providing tailored security services without the same legal authority as police officers. Authority and Legal Powers: Police officers possess legal authority granted by the state to enforce laws, make arrests, and investigate crimes. Security guards operate within private entities, with limited authority to the premises they protect and without the power to make arrests.
