Nurse Wellbeing Consultant & Sabbatical Coach | Championing Well-being, Self-Care, and Career Fulfillment for Nurses
What a thought-provoking perspective for Nurses Week! Kaija Freborg DNP-TCN, RN, NC-BC underscores the vital importance of self-care and self-compassion in nursing. "We allow the voices of others and their needs to drown out our own—to the point that we may even struggle to identify our own needs or sense of self. Who am I, if I am not a care giver?" As Nurse's Week is nearing the end, let's take time to give ourselves space to explore how we can give ourselves space to "dissolve our perfectionism" and " embrace our flaws and vulnerability." #nursesonlinkedin #nurseburnoutprevention #thenursesabbatical

Triage: at the helm Triage is typically the first point of contact with a healthcare professional when a person enters the Emergency Department. Triage nurses are trained to sort between the urgent, non-urgent, and life-threatening afflictions, and they simultaneously assess by using visual inspection, vital signs, and nursing judgment based on years of experience to determine how to score a patient on the triage severity scoring index. Many cases I review start with triage. Were the vital signs appreciated? Was the history sufficient? Balancing between expeditious and thorough, triage is an intricate emergency nursing skill that drives the patient's care throughout their stay in the Emergency Department. Want to learn more?
