Domestic abuse in all its forms does not exist on the edges of our society. It is woven into the very fabric of it and in every strata. Domestic abuse is in fact the great leveller, just like any virus.
Employers have one of, if not the, biggest opportunity to lead and drive societal change around domestic abuse in all its forms, for DA to, finally, be as mainstream socially unacceptable and with all the societal changes achieved as smoking or drink driving.
Employers have perpetrators in their employ, and in your leadership, as well as victims.
You are societal leaders in many senses, even just in terms of having codes of conduct and understand both the need for and power of that for your own company workability as well as your reputations.
That includes institutions as employers as well as businesses.
Domestic abuse costs, to employers as well as the victims and society, are immense fiscally and otherwise.
EIDA membership is free, if your company or institution haven't joined please do so, there are resources available to you and if your company is a member please be an active one!
What you as employers and leaders choose to do is of course entirely up to you but confronting as this statement is, what you choose can either save lives, change lives, help to PREVENT abuse ... or it enables perpetrators.
Doing nothing, thinking domestic abuse is not in your world, isn't an option anymore.
