Mettle Health is known to say, there’s more to health than medicine. I completely agree, which is why I’ll be speaking at their August annual convening about: “Changing the System: A New Approach to Incentivizing Care at the End of Life.” And I’ll be joining esteemed speakers including BJ Miller, MD, who is producing the event and speaking to issues like “Death and Dying in a Tech World” and “Intersection of Architecture, Health, and the Human Process.” Find out more at https://lnkd.in/d_-Y39Ec. If you’ll be there, make sure to reach out. I’d love to connect. #personcenteredcare #agingcare Humanity

How I hope neurodivergent people are included in the conversation, of HealthCare Insurance Policies, in the event this has been done, more awareness would go along way...Give me a platform to share my story of raising a neurodivergent child, in this part of the world. The therapy sessions are costly, not to mention that they are available for the financially able. As we move towards #UniversalHealthcare; discussions on more affordable equipped facilities, across the country should take centre stage. #UniversalHeathCare #NeurodiversityHealthCare

Have you ever wondered why it's so hard for nonprofit organizations to work together, share resources, and form partnerships? A recent survey asked this very question, and the responses were quite insightful. Some of the reasons given were differing missions and goals, limited resources, communication challenges, lack of trust, and power imbalances. It's a bit ironic, isn't it? In an industry dedicated to helping others, organizations often find themselves guarding their own little slice of the pie. But here's the good news – it doesn't always have to be that way! There are many wonderful organizations out there that are willing to lend a hand, share their knowledge, and offer assistance. And for that, we are truly grateful. Speaking of which, there's one local organization that deserves a special shout-out: Thrive Alabama. Led by the amazing Mary Elizabeth Marr, this organization has been an absolute gem. While their mission aligns with ours to some extent, they have gone above and beyond to support us with their kindness and expertise. So, if you're a Huntsville resident in need of medical care and don't know where to turn, Thrive Alabama is the place to start your search. Here's a glimpse into their mission and values: https://lnkd.in/gxbEqVev Let's spread the word about Thrive Alabama and organizations like them that truly embody the spirit of collaboration and compassion. A truly interesting and effective approach to fixing our healthcare system.
Yesterday we had the privilege of returning to the Rotary Club of Chattanooga after our week long hibernation in the East #tennessee snow. No knock on our speaker but I think many of us where just happy to have someone else watching the kids for a couple hours. Low and behold we had a treat in store for us. Everyone knows David Worland who heads Gov. Bill Lee’s Office of Faith Based Initiatives but our speaker today was his son Craig Worland of Southeast Primary Care Partners who spoke at length about challenges facing the US #healthcare system. Craig is a United States Marine Corps Veteran having served overseas and is currently COO of the largest Primary Care company in the State of Georgia. His message was simply brilliant; your economic model should line up with being a good human being. That is truly a novel concept. The belief at Southeast Primary Care Partners is that their revenue should come from the longterm health of their patients and not from referral fees or billed services. If these primary care providers have skin in the game, it will improve life expectancy and lower the astronomical healthcare costs facing Americans which is close to double that of other first world countries. Healthcare costs are the leading cause of bankruptcies nationwide and an estimated 760-935 BILLION dollars are wasted each year. Finding the right Doctor in the Right System is hard for those of us who have had loved ones in need. If we can simplify Pan’s Labyrinth of Healthcare, we can make Tennessee a better place for everyone to live with a better quality of life. Y’all go be Tennesseans this week and see what your great state has to offer!
