Maguire Subaru of Ithaca recently donated blankets to the Cayuga Medical Center Foundation for patients undergoing cancer treatments. The donation is part of a partnership between Subaru and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) as part of the Subaru Loves to Care Event. Since 2016, LLS and Subaru have supported cancer patients and their families with free resources such as blankets. Blankets not only provide emotional comfort for patients undergoing treatment, but also can manage physical effects as well. Often, chemotherapy can cause side effects that make patients feel cold. The cancer care kits, provided by the CMC Foundation, will also include self-care items not covered by insurance, such as soap, moisturizer, lip balm, and lotion. 🩸 Blood donations are vital for many cancer patients whose treatments impair their ability to produce red blood cells, especially when battling blood and bone marrow cancers like leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma. 💛 Please consider donating blood; your contribution is crucial for stabilizing blood cell counts and can significantly aid in their treatment. Every donation can save lives and help those fighting cancer. #DonateBlood #CancerSupport #MakeADifference

Thank you to everyone in my network who has already donated to my Light the Night team! As of today, Team #KaitlynStrong has raised $3,765 which is 75% of the way to my goal of raising $5,000! If you have the means to donate, please consider donating to my team to help support such an amazing organization. Here are a few amazing things that the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is able to do with the donations they receive: -$300 could help fund one week of LLS-sponsored group support for families dealing with blood cancer treatment. -$500 could help defray the costs of treatment-related travel for a patient. -$1,000 could help fund general lab supplies for five weeks to help LLS-funded researchers conduct laboratory work needed to develop blood cancer treatments. -$7,500 could help fund the work of an LLS-funded research fellow for six weeks. -$10,000 can allow donor direct funding of one of nine disease-specific research portfolios. Going pink today to raise awareness and money for Breast Cancer Support Gibraltar. 💗 One in seven women in the UK will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Most breast cancers (80%) occur in women over the age of 50. And the older you are, the higher your risk. 💗 Men can also get breast cancer, but this is rare. Most men who get breast cancer are over 60. 💗 The earlier breast cancer is diagnosed, the better the chance of successful treatment. So it's important to check your breasts regularly and see your GP if you notice a change 💗 Together we really can make a difference Cancer Research UK (CRUK) #thinkpink #thinkpinkday #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth #breastcancerawareness #gibraltar #Sovereigncommunity

Hope everyone had a great long weekend. Did you know that Sept 4th was also World Leukemia Day? WLD is a global event run in collaboration by patient groups from across the globe. It’s the one day of the year people from all around the world can come together to help raise awareness of leukemia. By raising awareness of leukemia and educating the world on the signs and symptoms of this condition, we can work together to help people get diagnosed and provide better outcomes for them. Did you know that leukemia was estimated to be the 15th and 11th most frequent cause of cancer-related mortality in 2020? Leukemia is a cancer which starts in blood-forming tissue, usually the bone marrow. It leads to the over-production of abnormal white blood cells, the part of the immune system which defends the body against infection. The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (LLS) is an organization that our colleagues are committed to supporting. FIS has contributed close to $6 million to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society over the past 10 years. To learn more about leukemia, visit Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (lls.org). To help me meet my fundraising goal and #endcancer you may donate here: https://lnkd.in/ekp-aN5u [pages.lls.org]

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month! DID YOU KNOW? Breast cancer is the most frequently occurring cancer in women, and that 1 out of 27 women in South Africa may develop breast cancer in their life? When it comes to breast cancer, age is not a factor, all women and men are at risk. Here are some ways to get involved: Get screened regularly. Talk to your doctor about what type of screening is right for you and when you should start getting screened. Support breast cancer organisations. Donate to or volunteer with organisations that are working to fight breast cancer. Raise awareness. Talk to your friends and family about breast cancer and the importance of early detection. Wear pink. Wearing pink during BCAM is a great way to show your support for the cause. To donate and read more click here: https://cansa.org.za/ #pinkoctober #BCAM #Mycomax

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australia and around 66 Australian men will receive a diagnosis every day. It is the second most common cause of death in Australian men and contributes an estimated 12% of male cancer related deaths. However, from the mid-1980's to now, the 5 year rate of survival from prostate cancer has risen from 60% to over 95%, and the rate of men dying from prostate cancer over the last 20 years is declining. Raise awareness. Start conversations and most importantly, donate generously if you are able. Every cent going towards advocacy, awareness and research is a cent well spent. https://lnkd.in/g7x9jmHd

For my stats loving network - >3,200 Australians will lose their life to breast cancer this year. ≈1 in 500 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Why #57Squats? This is the number of Australians who receive a life changing breast cancer diagnosis each day. If you feel inclined, while I do a few quats each day, I'd be grateful for donations to support the world-class breast cancer research being undertaken by the National Breast Cancer Foundation, to better understand how to prevent and detect breast cancer early, how to stop the progression and recurrence of breast cancer, and how to effectively treat hard-to-treat and metastatic breast cancers. And, ultimately, support them to reduce these stats. I know we all know that there are real people behind these stats... #CancerSucks #BreastCancerResearch KPMG Australia #SquatSquad

Today is World Ovarian Cancer Day. It’s all about highlighting the issue of ovarian cancer around the globe and what we need to do to reach a world where no woman dies of ovarian cancer. Although there is no way to prevent Ovarian Cancer, it’s important we know the symptoms to look out for. If you’re worried about Ovarian Cancer, always speak to your GP. You can also find some brilliant resources and support at charities like Cancer Research. https://lnkd.in/dDg-UTV #ovariancancer #worldovariancancerday #healthcare
