Hiring / accepting an offer usually comes down to location and money. 2. Employees don't leave companies; they leave people. 3. Pay employees what they are worth, or another company will. 4. The most successful companies prioritize their employees. 5. Employees evaluate companies as much as companies evaluate their employees. When there is imbalance, one or the other loses out. 6. In the end, employees want to do good work, and be proud of their work. Companies need to embrace them and let them know when they are doing good work, and help them when they are not. 7. HIRING ROADBLOCKS It's not enough to simply acknowledge problems in your hiring process. If you want to drive #progress and #results, you have to figure out how to get over, around, or through them. For example, oftentimes, when I discuss #staffing partnerships with plant/operations management at other companies, leaders tell me "we have an internal recruiting department that takes care of that", or, "I wish we could partner with staffing companies, but unfortunately, that's just not how [[company name]] does things" and then they leave the conversation at that. Then, I always think to myself: 1) OK, but [[x position]] has been open for 10 months under the jurisdiction of your internal recruiting team. They obviously don't currently have the bandwidth to give the position it deserves. We do. 2) "That's just not how we do things" is SUCH a closeminded and potentially precarious operating philosophy. If you're not open to alternative solutions, you're almost GUARANTEED to be stuck dealing with the same problem for months on end. Don't let your hiring roadblocks become permanent.
