National Workaholics day: Did you know it's National Workaholics Day today? A day meant to remind us to find a good balance between our home and work life. Workaholics typically prioritise work above nearly all other aspects of their lives, including family, friends, and even their own health. Their drive for high performance and perfectionism often leads to negative impacts across various areas of their lives. So, on this day, we are reminded to make sure we care for ourselves. You could: 💖 Be kind to yourself and take a few hours off work or even a day or two - you don't have a reason, it just gives you time to have a break and recharge ⌛ Set boundaries - define work hours and try to stick to them as much as possible 🎨 Develop hobbies - take an interest in something other than work, it can give a real healthy focus on something other than work 🗣 Seek support - consider talking to someone if you’re finding it difficult whether that be at work or at home

Today is National Workaholics Day. A workaholic is characterized as people who work "excessively and compulsively" and are driven to work by feelings that they "should be working". This is a lot different than being engaged in work. ❓ Does your normal day look like coming to work early, skipping lunch, and working late? Do you do this sometimes for really urgent work or is it every day? Year after year? ❓ Do you struggle with self-care and spending time with family? Do you hardly say yes to outside of work commitments? Do you find yourself working when severely sick and on vacation? Do you strive to be a perfectionist at work but are rarely satisfied? 💡 I encourage you to reflect on these questions if work has taken on any unhealthy role in your life and use today as a reminder of the importance of maintaining a strong work-life balance. Celebrate National Workaholics Day by having a balanced day and doing something to pour into yourself - even if only for 5 minutes. #wellness #worklifebalance

National Workaholics Day, July 5, may not be the holiday that is on most people’s mind this week, but it’s a good time to consider whether your work-life balance is actually working. If you find yourself on your phone clearing emails tomorrow during the family barbecue or squeezing in a few hours at the office before the evening’s fireworks, there’s a good chance you are a workaholic. Experts say that signs of a workaholic include: · Constantly checking your phone or laptop · Talking about work all of the time · Getting feedback from your family and friends that they feel disconnected from you · Working well beyond office hours · Working on vacation – even national holidays Some ways you can bring balance back into your life are by resting intentionally, setting boundaries and communicating your resolve to your family.
