As we wind down 2023 in anticipation of a bold and inspired 2024, I am reflecting on how grateful I am for the many wonderful connections my career has brought me, especially this past year including my introduction to the Liquid Legal Institute e.V. via Robert DILWORTH, meeting Dr Anita Lamprecht, Petra Arends-Paltzer PhD and being invited to join Rolemodel Rebels, my fabulous and enriching association with the informal (and much loved) #legalladiesofmelbourne group via Contract Queen Verity White, and of course the opportunity to serve on the committee of #WALTA under the fearless, driven and capable leadership of Amanda Fajerman.
Beyond that there is the ever punny Adrian K Francis who is so generous and inclusive, and connected me to an array of inspiring and interesting people in #legaltech , #legalinnovation & #legalops worldwide.
Thank you all for fueling me to lean in, and grow. It has been an enormously enriching and exciting year exploring the advent of GenAI and other frontier tech and I cannot wait to see what 2024 brings.
And now that I have your attention, I want to celebrate my friendship with the amazing Desi Vlahos.
From our very first meeting, Desi's larger-than-life smile and distinctive sense of style caught my attention. But beyond these initial impressions, it was her intense passion, her steadfast commitment to creating tangible change, and her advocacy for others, especially in the legal profession, that truly captivated me.
What sets our friendship apart is the rich tapestry of our differing viewpoints. Despite sharing some common ground in our backgrounds, it's our contrasting perspectives that make our conversations so deeply enriching. We may not always agree on various issues, but it's our mutual respect and the space we hold for each other's opinions, often leading to a place of shared understanding, that has been life-changing for me.
Desi isn't just a friend who challenges me; she's also my cheerleader, celebrating every success with as much enthusiasm as if it were her own. Her inspiration and encouragement have been a constant source of strength. Matching my energy and zest for life, Desi has been a co-conspirator in both professional achievements and personal joys.
In a world leaning towards AI-driven echo chambers, it's more important than ever to cherish and nurture these human connections, especially ones that offer a different perspective.
Desi, thank you for being a mirror, a mentor, and a source of endless energy and inspiration. Your friendship enriches my life in countless ways, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
