This #EarthMonth, we are participating in the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) #ChooseBlue campaign for a healthier planet. Seafood products – including nearly 100 from Bumble Bee - that are designated with the MSC label indicate that the seafood is from an MSC certified sustainable fishery. These are fisheries that actively work to maintain the health of our ocean’s fish populations and marine ecosystems – helping us build a better, healthier future for our planet. #BumbleBee #EarthMonth #EarthMonth2024 #MSCbluefish

Australia's oceans host some of the most diverse ecosystems on the planet, including 328 shark and ray species and 1,600 fish species in the Great Barrier Reef alone. Australia's fishing industry provides seafood to the region and beyond. Despite its significance, the sector has endangered certain species due to overfishing, such as the Grey Nurse Shark, Orange Roughy, and Scalloped Hammerhead. On World Fisheries Day, celebrated annually on November 21st, we're reminded of the importance of sustainable fishing. In Australia, the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) evaluates fishing companies based on target selection, minimal bycatch, habitat preservation, and science-based rules. Together, we can choose sustainable seafood options to secure this resource for future generations. Learn more here https://buff.ly/3FPwZkQ

🚨 To UK supermarket CEOs Scampi, produced by bottom trawling around Scotland and the UK, is harming seabed habitats, responsible for large volumes of bycatch of other fish - much of which is being discarded in breach of the discard ban - and negatively impacts vulnerable and endangered species. The Fisheries Improvement Project designed to address these problems has failed to meet its targets and is no longer credible. It is inappropriate and misleading to sell these products as “responsibly sourced”. We urge you as responsible members of the business community to take leadership by not entering into any new supply agreements for scampi until these environmental issues are addressed. The sourcing decisions you make today will affect future generations. 🎣 By fishing responsibly and ensuring that we don't overfish certain species, we can help maintain a healthy balance in our oceans and prevent the decline of vulnerable populations. It's so important for us to be mindful of the impact our actions have on the environment and the creatures that call it home. By choosing sustainably sourced seafood and supporting fisheries that follow responsible practices, we can make a positive difference in the conservation of endangered species. Let's work together to protect our oceans and the incredible marine life that inhabits them. 🐟💙 Next time you're at the grocery store or ordering seafood at a restaurant, remember to ask where it comes from and if it was caught sustainably. Every little choice we make can have a big impact on the world around us. 🌎🐠 #SustainableFishing #ProtectOurOceans #MarineEcosystems #SaveOurSeas #ProtectEndangeredSpecies #OceanConservation #SustainableChoices #ProtectOurPlanet #SustainableLiving #ChooseToReuse #HealthyChoices #environement #sustainability #greenliving #ecofriendly #reducewaste #protectourplanet #togetherwecan #makeadifference #circulareconomy #tadweeracorp #wastetowealth #EmpoweringCommunities #sustainablesolutions #CommunityEmpowerment #InnovativeSolutions #InnovationForGood

June 7 is World Oceans Day and we are grateful to be part of a worldwide effort to inform the public of the devastating effect of farming salmon, sea bream, sea bass, and other carnivorous fish. It is an unsustainable business model that consumes more wild fish than is produced, yet the industry continues to promote the myth that the so-called blue revolution is "feeding the world." Polluting our waters and coastlines, fish farms decimate communities both where the fish are farmed and where the wild fish are taken for fish meal. As we have learned more and more about the effects of fish farming on coastal communities and marine ecosystems, we have met extraordinary people and groups from around the world that are leading the opposition to this destructive industry, many of whom are listed below. If you love nature and care about the natural world our children will inherit, please watch this video produced by the amazing Mike Sampey and visit fishfarmsout.org to join a coalition of coastal communities, NGOs and scientists from 6 continents that have signed on to a letter to the Food and Agricultural Org (FAO) of the United Nations to tell them: #FISHFARMSOUT Eva Douzinas Fay Orfanidou Andrianna Natsoulas North American Marine Alliance Don't Cage Our Oceans Leslie Hatfield GRACE Communications Foundation Catalina Lopez Catalina Cendoya Agustina Copello The GSFR Joanna Sullivan Hannah Kapff Curious PR Conscience Consulting Nikos Kopsidas Natasha Hurley Feedback Patagonia Frederik W. The ocean is under threat, from overfishing. With one third of global fish stocks overfished, it is vital we safeguard seafood supplies and protect the marine environment. 🌊 The MSC programme and blue MSC ecolabel are an important part of the solution. The remarkable thing about fish stocks, is that when they are managed properly, they can recover and flourish meaning there will be fish in the sea for future generations. When we look after the Ocean, the Ocean looks after us. 🐟 Read more about how the MSC is creating change on the water in our new State of the Water report. ➡️ https://bit.ly/3rmpYo5 #sustainableseafoodseptember #UKfisheries #irishfisheries #sustainablefishing #sustainableseafood #fisheries #sustainability #marineenvironment #bluefoods

"When managed effectively, coastal fisheries are the foundation of local economies in coastal communities, especially in developing nations. With proper management, fisheries have the potential to become the most sustainable and climate-friendly way to feed the world, support local livelihoods, and protect the natural systems that are among our best defenses against climate change....We challenge leaders and communities across the planet to appreciate the impact of these fisheries and to take steps to help them thrive." #EatEUfish EAPO was invited to participate the European Parliament to see how policies could Enhance European fisheries as an asset on the world stage. Tricky question given that that the fishing sector has been facing a series of crisis in the last 3 years that have heavily impacted its profitability. Our take was to: 📌 Stimulate healthy and climate friendly fish consumption by lowering VAT, ensuring that fishers can make a living is the key to meet climate objectives, generational renewal challenges and sustainability targets. 📌 Work to export our ambitious and sustainable fisheries management model outside of the EU in exchange for access to our single market and through high-level targets setting in international fora 📌 #EatEUfish 🐟 what best way to support the sector than by eating the fish that it produces ? Even more so when fish has the lowest carbon footprint of all animal protein sources, making fish a key element to reaching our climate objectives for 2050. Thank you to François-Xavier Bellamy and Gabriel Mato Adrover for their invitation !
