QUALITY CONTROL/QUALITY ASSURANCE What is Quality? Quality is conformance to required specifications, it is the degree to which a collection of inherent characteristics fullfils requirements. ''Quality Assurance" and "Quality Control" are often mistakenly used as interchangeable terms when discussing the broad issue of Quality on Construction. Although both work towards the delivery of a final product that meets specifications, they describe different activities. QA refers to the implementation of pro-active processes that aim to prevent defects. QA is a management tool that can incorporate everyone on the team through planned and systematic activities that aim to prevent defects before they occur QC refers to the process of inspecting the product and correct defects,QC can be defined as a corrective tool, carried out by a specific group of individuals on a job site i.e inspectors, project. engineers #constructionmanagement #quality #civil #projectmanagement

QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR'S RESPONSE TO FAULTY TOOTHLESS GEAR BOX. When a quality control engineer inspects a gear box and discovers missing or damaged teeth on newly coupled tooth gears, it sets off a series of critical actions. Firstly, the engineer meticulously documents the findings, noting the extent of the damage and potential causes. This information is relayed to the production team for immediate investigation and rectification. Simultaneously, a halt in production is often necessary to prevent further assembly of faulty components. Once the root cause is identified—whether it be a manufacturing defect, material flaw, or assembly error—corrective measures are swiftly implemented to prevent recurrence. The incident underscores the vital role of quality control in maintaining product integrity, ensuring customer satisfaction, and upholding industry standards.
