☀ Organic solar cells are among the most promising photovoltaic technologies in terms of performance and possible application. However, a big challenge is to increase their poor stability, which is due to intrinsic degradation processes. Discover how scientists from Technical University of Munich tackled this challenge on our latest highlight: https://bit.ly/3JeHpMU

The ternary blend approach enhanced the PCE of organic solar cells. However, the role of the third component in improving the photovoltaic parameters needs critical analysis. We have conducted systematic studies to understand the role of twisted perylene diimide in ternary blend solar cells. Our work published in JPCL reveals enhanced hole-transfer efficiency in finely tuned ternary mixtures. https://lnkd.in/gGwcJwvQ

Sta-bility or Not Sta-bility, that is the question. The answer of course is stability. And long term stability of perovskite solar cells is paramount. Without it, PSCs will only be useful in a handful of niche use cases. Our latest research blog, written by Fluxim's Dr. Antonio Cabas Vidani and in collaboration with our colleagues at the Laboratory for Thin Films and Photovoltaics at Empa looks a Aging and Characterization of High-Band Gap Solar Cells. This blog is useful for researchers who are looking to enhance their understanding of high-bandgap solar cells and explore advanced techniques for improving their performance and durability. 📢 Check out our newest article, "Enabling LVRT Compliance of Electrolyzer Systems Using Energy Storage Technologies," recently published in the journal 'Batteries.' https://lnkd.in/eg_hgb4z Big thanks to Daniel Stroe and Florin IOV. #LithiumIonBatteries #LithiumIonCapacitors #Supercapacitors #GreenHydrogen #AlkalineElectrolyzer #LVRT #DanishGridCode #GermanGridCode
LVRT requirements for electrolyzers are on the way in Denmark and Germany. Energy storage systems may ensure compliance if properly sized and controlled. A thorough techno-economic analysis including sizing procedure is provided in our recently published paper (https://lnkd.in/djbVY8Vu). Congrats Pankaj Saha and Daniel Stroe for turning our initial talks before summer vacation into a comprehensive study using some of the models developed in Lighthouse projects.

Solar Power is much older than you think! Our colleagues at BayWa r.e. APAC started an interesting series on their LinkedIn page, and I've become really passionate about it! Recently, they shared information about one of the most influential figures in the history of photovoltaics. I'm talking about 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆, 𝗘𝗱𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗹, who is credited with the discovery of the 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗰 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁.🌞 Interesting: Becquerel came from a family of influential scientists. Antoine César, his father, was a pioneer in the study of electric phenomena and Antoine Henri, his son was the first person to discover radioactivity and was awarded with the Nobel Prize together with Marie and Pierre Curie.🏆 The photovoltaic effect is the basic physical process through which a photovoltaic cell converts sunlight into electricity. In 1839, when Edmond was 19 years old, he created the first photovoltaic cell in the world by coating platinum electrodes with silver chloride. Because of his work, the photovoltaic effect has also been called the "Becquerel effect." #bayware #solartrade #pv #photovoltaiceffect #becquerel #photovoltaicdiscovery

Within one decade, lead halide perovskite solar cells have reached power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) compatible with that of silicon solar cells. While in the beginning, they suffered from short device lifetimes, those have also been strongly improved over time. However, their content of toxic lead still poses a risk of environmental pollution and human health on exposure. In our latest work , we present a hole transport material (HTM)-free double perovskite based solar cell utilizing a carbon black back electrode (CBE) derived from up-cycled biowaste. https://lnkd.in/g7jnJGsi
