Unveiling Bifacial Solar Modules: Optimal Row Spacing for Maximum Efficiency In the realm of renewable energy, innovation knows no bounds. Bifacial solar modules have emerged as a revolutionary technology, capturing sunlight not only from the front but also from the rear side. This dance with sunlight, however, requires a carefully choreographed row spacing strategy to unlock its full potential. Bifacial's Radiant Symphony: Bifacial solar panels transcend traditional photovoltaics by embracing both direct sunlight and its reflected glory. This innovative approach maximizes energy capture and opens a new chapter in solar efficiency. The Dance of Row Spacing: Amid this solar innovation, the distance between rows takes center stage. Row spacing plays a crucial role in determining the overall energy yield of bifacial panels. It's the secret to harnessing the power of reflected light and enhancing energy production. Striking the Perfect Chord: Row spacing isn't a one-size-fits-all solution. Terrain, tilt angle, albedo (surface reflectivity), and module height are the notes in this intricate composition. Wider gaps capture more rear-side light but occupy more land, while narrower gaps optimize land use but may compromise energy output. Precision Through Simulation: Advanced solar simulations guide this delicate dance. These models consider geographical location, local weather, and energy requirements. This data-driven approach ensures row spacing aligns perfectly with the site's unique features, optimizing energy efficiency and land utilization. Unleashing Bifacial's Brilliance: Bifacial solar modules and optimal row spacing form a dynamic partnership. The panels gracefully capture direct sunlight and embrace its reflected counterpart. Row spacing orchestrates this performance, ensuring no photon of sunlight goes to waste. Paving the Sustainable Path: As solar technology evolves, bifacial modules and precise row spacing exemplify human ingenuity. This partnership not only boosts energy output but also paints a greener future. Our decisions today sculpt tomorrow's energy landscape. Imagine a solar farm as a stage where panels and sunlight perform an intricate dance. This partnership speaks of innovation, sustainability, and a future illuminated by clean, efficient energy. #SolarInnovation #BifacialEfficiency #RenewableEnergy #OptimalRowSpacing #SustainableFuture

At STREAT HQ, home of our offices and Cromwell Cafe, we're proud that we've been able to reduce our energy carbon footprint by 85%, thanks to our rooftop solar panels and sourcing the rest of our electricity needs through 100% renewable electricity for our operations. As we shape our 2040 plan, we're tackling the challenge of eliminating the remaining 15% of our energy carbon footprint stemming from gas usage, moving towards achieving net-zero emissions. Our ultimate goal? Once net-zero we'd love to aim to produce more renewables than we consume. But this goal poses significant complexities, particularly as gas is integral to our coffee roasting and kitchen operations. Transitioning to electricity is not only costly for a not-for-profit but also requires adjustments in our kitchen processes and equipment. To navigate this challenge, we're reaching out to skilled volunteers who can lend their expertise in researching the best solutions. We need insights into equipment options, the conversion process to electricity, and impactful interim measures to offset our carbon footprint. 🌱 If you possess knowledge and experience in transitioning from gas to electricity within the hospitality sector and are willing to volunteer your time to help us chart our path forward, we'd greatly appreciate your input. Drop a comment below or reach out to greenteam@streat.com.au to get involved! #2040PlanetPlan #goingdeepershadesofgreen #renewables #convertingtoelectricity

Optigrün international AG, a market leader in Europe for green roof systems and buildings, and Solyco Solar AG, a leader in renewable energy, begin a promising partnership in the field of PV systems for green roofs. Within this collaboration, the innovative product SOLon will be marketed, which was developed by Solyco in close cooperation with Optigrün. The partnership brings together the knowledge and expertise of both companies to drive multifunctional roof use for sustainable urban development. The SOLon product is the result of intensive research and development by Solyco and was specifically designed for use on green roofs. Due to the vertical orientation and the bifaciality of the solar modules, there are two peaks in electricity production during the day. In the morning, as the sun rises, and in the afternoon, as the sun sinks and irradiates the backside. Optigrün green roofs simultaneously provide other benefits such as preservation of the natural water balance, an increase in biodiversity, compliance with discharge restrictions & reduction of the stormwater fee, as well as an increase in efficiency of the photovoltaic system due to lower surface temperatures and fine dust binding. The alliance between Solyco and Optigrün represents a forward-thinking and progressive combination of the advantages of photovoltaics and green roofs. With Solyco's experience in the solar energy industry and Optigrün's long-standing expertise in the field of green roofs and structures, both companies are ideally positioned to offer customers high-quality, sustainable and efficient solutions. #biosolar #greenroof #urbangreening #greeninfrastructure

Switzerland is turning the gap between train tracks into a ‘solar carpet’ A startup called Sun-Ways developed a mechanism that can turn unused space between train tracks into a long and narrow solar farm. BY ELISSAVETA M. BRANDON Solar power is key to a clean energy future, but many people don’t want large-scale solar farms in their backyard. In the U.S. alone, at least 75 solar farms were rejected last year, in large part because of their size and visual impact on the landscape. This predicament is the reason why floating solar farms are becoming increasingly popular, why California is covering some of its canals with solar panels, and why South Korea, France, Kenya, and others are elevating solar panels on stilts and growing vegetables underneath. But soon, countries racing to reach their net-zero goals could have another option to choose from, because a Swiss start-up called Sun-Ways has come up with the idea to slot solar panels in between train tracks. The panels would be installed (and uninstalled for maintenance) by a specially built train that would “unroll” them like a carpet. This would happen during the night, when fewer trains are running. Read on at https://lnkd.in/ewxcH_GT.
