Looking back on the past decade, it is amazing to witness the progress we are making in recognizing the impact of social determinants on health. More importantly, it is inspiring to see the cross-sector collaborations that the federal government, states, non-profits, and private companies are engaging in to meaningfully improve the health and well-being of so many. We have much to learn from these collaborations and I am excited to see how we can build on this knowledge to implement policies that make these programs scalable and sustainable. #socialdeterminantsofhealth #hhs #cms #healthequity #foodismedicine
We applaud the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) for hosting the inaugural HHS Food is Medicine Summit and celebrate the achievements of these accomplished panelists. Food insecurity and lack of access to foods that support health and wellness impact so many Americans across coverage sources. Our members are committed to policy solutions that will help to move the needle on addressing social drivers of health and we look forward to engaging the experts and organizations featured across today's panels. We encourage you to watch the video and stay tuned for our key takeaways from this incredible event. https://lnkd.in/eFkQ28x #foodismedicine #socialdeterminantsofhealth #hhs

👏 At the recent Alliance of Community Health Plans (ACHP) Symposium in D.C., it was wonderful to see health plan leaders showing a strong interest in harnessing the potential of food as medicine. These nonprofit community-based plans are interested in expanding their local food is medicine initiatives by leveraging tech-driven programs. Good Measures recalls that one year ago, leaders gathered in D.C. for the National Conference on Hunger, Nutrition, and Health. Now, we're working to keep the goals of that conference alive, advancing the role of food as medicine in healthcare. https://bit.ly/3PF563M #GoodMeasures #FoodAsMedicine #HealthPlans

This is a great set of tools for professionals in public health and other fields to assess and begin to address the commercial determinants of health, health inequities, and other social and environmental problems (#cdoh, #commercialdeterminants).
I am very excited to go through what is possibly the first of its kind globally set of tools and resources for local governments to address the #commercialdeterminantsofhealth. This is an invaluable contribution to the body of resources on #CDOH and notably at the local level, which bears the brunt of harmful outcomes and is the cornerstone of public health practice. There are two sets of tools which cover the what, how and by whom: 1) The CDOH Essentials: a set of materials for public health professionals to run an introductory workshop CDOH for public health teams and key local authority partners: https://lnkd.in/dfhk7Mjk 2) The Good Governance toolkit: a set of materials focused on improving governance of commercial interactions, relationships and influence in UK local authorities, to maximise benefits and minimise risk for population health: https://lnkd.in/dy7f2PdX Huge congratulations to Anna Brook, Katherine Korner, may van Schalkwyk Mark Petticrew and all the contributing colleagues, the Association of Directors of Public Health, UK, and the The Health Foundation who funded this critical work. #CDOH #alcohol #tobacco #lobbying Daniel Hunt Juliette McHardy Matthew Ashton Dr Sandro Demaio Gini Arnold Juan E. It was an honor presenting at the Food as Medicine Summit in Chicago. It is critical to have the right stakeholders and focused partners to collaborate and move the needle forward. We have made some great progress, and we have an opportunity to shape policy, laws, and regulations to improve coverage, justify costs, and streamline contracting. I look forward to continuing my efforts to be one of those specialized collaborators. Carrie Nixon Rebecca E. #CalAIM implementation is happening locally, with counties playing a central role. This brief focuses on how four counties – Alameda, Contra Cost, Placer, and Ventura – are adapting to these changes as the need for data infrastructure emerges as a cross-cutting theme to meaningfully impact complex health and social care.
👥 On The CHCF Blog, we're diving into the implementation of CalAIM and its impact on county health administrators. We spoke with individuals on the ground to get their insights on what has worked and what still needs improvement. https://lnkd.in/gQYKck8F
