A great workplace culture can be developed and built. It can be deliberately designed, and there are numerous tools including the #EmotionalCultureDeck by riders&elephants which I love! It is also built through each interaction, the language used, the humanity displayed in the workplace. Early in my career I came to realise that people notice every little nuance. They notice when you greet one person but not the other next to them, they notice the slights and microaggressions, the put downs. Those all negatively impact culture. They also notice the positive, but not as much because people have a negativity bias, so we need a ratio of around 6 positive to each negative. A great culture is indeed when everyone is treated with dignity, respect, compassion and kindness. It is also whether they feel those and how they feel each morning getting ready for work. Coaching is great for self leadership, as well as leading others. Give it a go!

You know when you are in the presence of great corporate culture when everyone, no matter their authority, title, tenure, experience, role, level, treats everyone else with respect, kindness, compassion and empathy. When you see people behaving like that, nobody will need to "explain" to you why their culture is great. You will know it. Let's make 2024 the year where we create amazing work cultures!
