Inspired by Karen McClymont's story of navigating the Zig Zag... At Tesco we've invited colleagues from the Tesco family to share their learning powers and help inspire others for National Learning at Work Week. National Learning at Work Week is all about embracing continuous learning, and Karen absolutely nailed it with her live session today. Her journey, with all its twists and turns (think exciting zig zags!), showcased the power of lifelong learning. It was truly inspiring to hear how she adapted her skillset, embraced new opportunities, and thrived in different career paths - all fuelled by a continuous hunger for knowledge. Here are some takeaways that resonated with me: 1️⃣ Challenge yourself daily: Make learning a daily habit. Explore new things, pick up a new skill, or simply read an article in an unfamiliar field. Every day is an opportunity to grow. 2️⃣ Embrace change: Don't fear the unknown! Change can be scary, but it's often the catalyst for our greatest professional (and personal) growth. 3️⃣ Own your career: Take charge of your professional development. Don't be afraid to try new things, step outside your comfort zone, and share the career you deserve. But remember, stay true to your values and prioritise your well-being (both mental and physical) throughout the ride. Huge thanks to Karen for leading by example. Karen really is an inspiration and has an amazing story to share. (If you're part of the Tesco team and would like to watch Karen's session, you can find the recording in our Learning at Work Week guide). #NationalLearningAtWorkWeek #Learningatworkweek #LAWW

This Learning at Work Week, there's a lot of enthusiasm and chatter about embracing new skills and techniques. But a true commitment to learning extends far beyond a single week. It’s about integrating knowledge and growth into every aspect of our operation every day of the year. We're lucky that so many of our clients live by this ethos. They don't just participate in Learning at Work Week; they live it year-round. That being said, we're excited to be supporting a number of learning sessions with many of them this week as 'special' guest topics or things sitting outside existing programmes. 😍 And if you're reading this, and want to learn something new, maybe try behavioural scientist BJ Fogg's "habit stacking." Why? 'Cos it works, as you're adding learning activities into your existing routines, so you're more likely to stick at them. Want to enhance your coaching skills? Incorporate a new coaching technique into your weekly sessions. Eager to improve customer interactions? Try a new approach in your conversations starting today. That way, we can ensure that learning is not just an annual event, but just something we do every day. #LearningAtWorkWeek #LifelongLearning #HabitStacking #Elev8Performance

Just because it comes easily to you, does not make that skill any less valuable to others. In fact, noticing that a skill comes easily to you is usually the first sign that you should **do more of that** So many of us have been taught that the only work worth doing is the work that's **hard** That's the work to be proud of, that's the work we "deserve" to get paid for, that's the work that's marketable. But what if we paid more attention to what we're really good at – and did more of **that**? What if we recognized and appreciated our ease as a gift, and worked to find ways to leverage it? What if we noticed what work we find energizing and engaging, and spent more time digging into the connection between *that* work and the contributions we can make in the workplace? We might find ourselves feeling more aligned, more connected to purpose, and energized – rather than depleted – at the end of the day. As we start another work week, consider this challenge: what comes easily to you? Or to make it even sharper: where are you discounting your contributions just because it doesn't feel "hard"? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

📌 M&E is a Team Effort In my own experience, Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) serves as a pivotal juncture where various teams and units within an organization converge, especially in environments where multiple projects run concurrently. M&E personnel inevitably interact with a diverse range of colleagues, spanning from project managers to those actively involved in project implementation out in the field. Furthermore, during evaluation processes, there is an opportunity to engage with both project funders and those directly affected by the project's outcomes. To be candid, attempting to create silos around M&E, akin to the practices often observed in finance and procurement teams, is not conducive to its essence. M&E is fundamentally centered on principles of transparency, accountability, and the sharing of knowledge. Hence, program leaders should endeavor to establish "open" M&E departments and units' culture, while M&E professionals should cultivate robust stakeholder engagement skills. M&E is an endeavor that involves the collective effort of the entire team. It's a collaborative endeavor where everyone plays a role, contributes, and collectively achieves success. Always keep this in mind. I will be sharing more content around the M&E Team, different roles, and how they all connect this week. Keep an eye here Ngwoke Ifeanyi Good morning, MER friends. Welcome to a new work week.

🌟 Learning at Work Week: Reflections🌟 This week has been Learning at Work Week, an annual event that promotes and celebrates learning and development in the workplace. 🌻🌱 This year at Lloyds Banking Group their focus was #learningpower and wow it did not disappoint. 🚀⚡ Throughout the week, I attended great sessions, workshops, and discussions, all aimed at enhancing my skills and broadening my horizon. Personal reflections from the week are: ⭐ Connecting with colleagues: Learning at Work Week has allowed me to connect with colleagues from different areas within the group. All sessions were interactive so we were able to share insights, swop stories, and learn from each other’s experiences. 🫶🏼 ⭐ Exploring New Topics: From 'Resilience', 'How to Remember More' and 'Personal Branding' to my favourite 'Personal Skills so what?' , I delved into subjects that piqued my curiosity. Each session left me inspired and eager to apply newfound knowledge in my work. 💡 ⭐ Embracing Continuous Learning: I am passionate about my development and I embrace any opportunity to expand my skill set. Learning at Work Week reminded me that growth isn’t a one-time event—it’s a journey. 🌱 ⭐ Grateful for facilitators: A huge shoutout to Learning@LBG and all the organisers/ facilitators for delivering engaging, insightful and captivating content. It has been the best yet! 🙌 ⭐ Looking Ahead: While Learning at Work Week may be over, the momentum continues. I’m excited to build on what I’ve learned and keep pushing the boundaries of my expertise. 📚 Learning isn't just this week, it’s about continuing to embrace curiosity, connecting with others, and evolving. 🌟 #LearningAtWorkWeek #ProfessionalGrowth #LBG #personalskills #growfocuschange Faith Brennan Timothy Williams Samantha Leonard Kate Masters Philippa Bird Jonathan deMacedo Kimberley LIlley 💫

What is on your to do list this week? At the beginning of each week, I have a ritual. I open the notes app on my phone and start jotting down everything that I need to accomplish. There's something incredibly satisfying about checking off those tasks and feeling productive. Recently, while researching for an upcoming time management training, I stumbled upon a quote from Eisenhower that struck a chord with me: "I have two kinds of problems: the urgent and the important. The urgent are not important, and the important are never urgent." This quote got me thinking, and it's a reflection I'd like to share with you. What if everything on our to-do lists isn't as important as we think? How many of those tasks we diligently check off this week will be remembered or acknowledged in the long run, especially in our annual performance reviews? How many of these tasks will make a lasting difference in the lives of others? Productivity is great, but it's not enough on its own. The work we do must also be meaningful. It's not just about the quantity of tasks we complete, but the quality of impact they have on our lives and the lives of those around us. It's about making every action count, moving from the "urgent but unimportant" to the "important and impactful." As we start a new work week, let's not only aim to be productive but strive for purpose. Let's set our priorities straight and create a to do list that truly matter.
