I hate this word “ghostwriter”. Because it forgets about delegation. You’re not a writer or a content creator, then hire for it. You’re not a floor sweeper, so hire for it. You’re not an administrative type, hire for it. You don’t have time to work with each individual client daily, hire for it. Roni 🔥 Broyde is who I delegate content production to. Not that he’s making the content out of thin air, he’s pulling it from me and sharing it with the world. That helps me enormously and I CANNOT do what he does. He can’t do what I do. We each hire to compensate for our limitations of talent or time, usually both. Content is necessary for business and is no different than janitorial. So if you outsource that, outsource this. I can put up a light fixture. But I’m gonna hire for it. Is it still authentically light? I can write words (at a high school level🤣). But I’m gonna hire for it. Are you a WRITER or are you a CREATOR? I watched this video on YouTube the other day, and a scriptwriter was describing the difference between a writer and a creator. Essentially, a writer (in the film world) is someone who chases checks and works for hire. A creator is someone who writes their own script and directs their time and energy in finding ways to bring that film/show to life. His argument is that creators always make out better than writers. They are more fulfilled because they are writing their own stories and they make more money because owning, producing, and or licensing/selling those stories commands a larger payday. I agree in principle. And as a writer myself, I'm eager for the day when my own stories earns enough dollars on its own to support and elevate my lifestyle. But there is one aspect of this argument I disagree with. If you are writing for other people, you are still very much a creator. It takes a lot of skill, creativity, and patience to write for someone else or for other platforms. That said, the most challenging and fulfilling part of being a writer/creator is when someone spends their time and/or money on your own work. You just can't replicate that feeling and the financial benefits are real. So I wonder how many of my creative friends are "WRITERS" or "CREATORS?"
