Representation matters. Seeing leaders of color at the helm of top companies isn't just about breaking barriers, it's about inspiring the next generation, fostering diversity of thought, and creating a workplace that reflects the richness of our world. 🌍✨ Oscar, one of our internship alums, shared about the highlights of his experience with The Script : “The professional development workshops, the opportunity to practice sharing my story, the exposure to BIPOC leaders, the social support felt by the program, everything!” #LeadershipDiversity #RepresentationMatters #InclusiveSuccess"

Here's a picture of intern Alex starting his first week 15 years ago. Goofy photo aside, it really was a game changer. As somebody who now has the benefit of hindsight to recognize how important internships and mentors were early in my career, I'm really proud of the investments Leaf Home is making in talent development. - Internships with formal project assignment and evaluation - Self-paced educational curriculum - Formal mentorships - Leadership development program Ten years after that picture was taken, I was leading marketing for the same company, only it was 10x larger and coming off a successful exit. Leaders: investing in young professionals isn't just a benevolent pay-it-forward concept, it's critical to developing the pipeline of talent needed to sustain growth.

When I landed Business Development internship at Throne, I felt both excited and nervous. Since joining ESSEC Business School, it was my first experience that was based outside Tech 😶🌫️ Throne's LinkedIn page showcased incredibly accomplished individuals from Google, Amazon, McKinsey, and Goldman Sachs. I wondered if I could keep up After a few months, I asked a co-founder why they hired me❓ Expecting it was my skills or interview performance, his answer surprised me: "We saw that you had a YouTube channel, and we thought that was really cool!" He explained that top candidates have often similar profiles, but something unique can set you apart ✨ For me it was my YouTube Channel [Maven Talks], a passion project that I never intended to use for job hunting. This taught me a valuable lesson: the things that make you different are also the things that make you shine ♥️ Embrace your passions and let your individuality shine through! What's that one unique aspect about you that has helped you to standout? #careergrowth #professionaljourney #careeradvice

Data Integration Technical @ Greif | Engineering Management @ CU Boulder | Project Management | Supply Chain Management | Product Engineering
👋This past week, @Greif interns participated in a week-long immersive intern summit that provided an introduction to the company, the opportunity to network with many colleagues, and the ability to create meaningful connections with our fellow interns. Firstly, we appreciate the efforts of Tracy Studebaker and Michele Walker along with countless others in both planning and investing in young talent throughout this summit. During an engaging session and presentation with Chief Human Resources Officer @Bala Sathyanarayanan, we received exciting news: GREIF has been selected as one of Newsweek's Top 100 Global Most Loved Workspaces in 2024! Such an accomplishment hardly comes as a surprise, and it is largely due to GREIF’s unique culture. After diving deeper into our conversation with @Bala Sathyanarayanan about the building blocks of what distinguishes GREIF, we want to take a moment to reflect on some of those remarkable highlights. During his presentation, Bala emphasized a people-first mentality through servant leadership aimed at serving others. Through this, we were introduced to six attributes of a highly valued intern: being a business person (no matter your role at the company), leaving your work better than you found it, having a bias for action and following through, being a change leader, being candid and to the point, and being a complex problem solver. Throughout our discussion, we reflected on the importance and impact of company culture, curiosity and exploration regarding our own work, and pushing the boundaries and expectations of our role. We also delved into the importance of candid and direct communication, and how we can evolve to become complex problem solvers. One key indicator stuck out to us that we wanted to expand on: having a bias for action and following through. To us, this means being consciously change oriented and proactive. It means putting yourself out there even if you are uncomfortable. It means constantly reflecting on our past, energizing others, and asking questions. After all, no question is a dumb question. The place where you improve the most is outside your comfort zone. Being an intern means not just clocking in and getting the job done; it's about pushing boundaries and exceeding expectations by keeping your focus on the bigger picture. The only way to move forward is to step away from comfort. That's what will truly make you stand out. And we are committed to doing just that. #LoveWhereYouWork #Greif #InternSummit #MostLovedWorkplace
