Okay, so I promised to build in front of y'all. Goals as of today: 1) Take on 5 new weekly roping clients between now and Sept 18th (meeting with 2 new clients on Saturday, woohoo!), *In the wisdom of a mentor, focus on paying one bill at a time. 2)Have the round pen ready to go by October 1st (key piece of small group & 1:1 horsemanship sessions), *Price estimates for sand and mats to land in my inbox in the next 24 hours. 3)Host an open arena roping night every 2 weeks where everyone is welcome ($20 per person, family-friendly, rope and roping dummy provided, all activity is on foot, non-alcoholic drinks provided). *Who has an opinion on Friday evening vs. Saturday evening? 4)Attend my first meditation (not mediation 🤦🏼♀️) with horses so I can bring the practice to Sacramento (booked on Sept 21st and so excited about it). *If you're in Orange County, CA take a look at Otra Mas (https://www.otramas.net/). Deans Court Chambers is running its #MiniPupillageDay today, giving some lucky students the chance to undertake advocacy exercises, which are as realistic as we can make them, in small groups, in front of experienced barristers trying to give constructive feedback so that they can take the next steps in their careers. Meanwhile, in preparation for the annual #GoddardCup golf day tomorrow, I’m watching the Ryder Cup. From which I conclude: 1. Watching the professionals play can inspire us and make us think: I can do that. 2. Indoor lessons with a SloMo camera isn’t the same as the driving range. 3. The range isn’t the same as being on the course. 4. No matter that the professionals make it look easy, it really isn’t. 5. Even the multi millionaire stars can have a bad day. All of which explains why, whilst it’s lovely that people see Bar School or Pupillage or Tenancy as their goal, I’m more sanguine. That said… 6. You still need to start somewhere, and you still need to #play.
