I've said it once before - but today I want to say it again. There are highs and lows in Talent Aquisition. There are weeks where you are on top of the world and get to celebrate your candidates' accomplishments with them - and there are weeks where you take the emotional burden of rejections with you at the end of the day when you log off. This role is an extremely rewarding one - but also extremely taxing emotionally and mentally at times. As a recruiter, you are often not in control of the outcomes or timing of decisions - and while you may play a vital role in those decisions that are made - it's difficult when things are out of your control. Despite this, you always want the best for your candidates. It's a difficult job, but one that is incredibly important in helping people find their dream careers. #recruiting #jobsearch #employment #careeradvice

Embrace Your Career Journey: Gaps Don't Define You 🌟 As professionals, we often encounter questions about the spaces between our career moves. But here's the truth: those gaps don't determine our value or potential. In my experience as a recruiter, I've learned to overlook these intervals during the screening process. They're simply irrelevant to assessing your capabilities. Many candidates have faced judgment and stigma for these gaps, unfairly labeled as red flags. But the reality is, there are countless reasons for pauses in our careers: -Layoffs -Sabbaticals -Toxic work environments -Relocations -Caretaking responsibilities -Health challenges -The impact of the pandemic -Unrealistic job expectations I've advocated for numerous candidates with resume gaps, and guess what? It's rarely an issue with hiring managers. In fact, many of them have not only secured offers but are thriving in their roles. So, let's change the narrative. Your career journey is unique, and those gaps are just part of your story—not the defining chapter. Embrace every twist and turn, because each step forward is a testament to your resilience and growth. 💼📈 #CareerJourney #ResumeGaps #ProfessionalDevelopment

Did you know that Hiring Managers and Recruiters spend more time reviewing resumes in the Fall? 📅 🔍 Teams have hit their hiring quota and now strategically sourcing for top talent and starting conversations NOW for January hires. 📅 🔍 Managers are reevaluating their goals and deciding they want an additional team member before the Holiday season. 📅 🔍 The most recent job report showed American employers have added 336,000 jobs in September - higher than any estimate in a Bloomberg survey meaning OCTOBER is going to one of the best hiring months in 2023. If you are open to considering a new opportunity, I hope this post encourages you to start now!

Garney Construction - Salary Recruiter & Talent Strategist | Fierce Driver of Inclusive & Equitable Hiring Processes | Expert Sourcer
I know it’s tough out there for Recruiters that are on the job market. 💡 I can’t tell you how many jobs I’ve applied to that I’ve been rejected from, just to see it reposted the next day, even if I met 90-100% of the job requirements, even if we had a great preliminary conversation… 🤔 It’s easy to let these turn into toxic thoughts. I’ll admit, yesterday, I had a terrible mental health day. 😔 I had just come back from an amazing LinkedIn event at Empower Field where I got to network and share solutions to common TA situations with many awesome talent professionals. I should feel energized, excited, connected….. Instead, I left with a feeling of hopelessness and despair. When will I find my next opportunity? How do I set myself apart from the thousands of other applicants applying to the same jobs as me? Am I going to have to take a step back in my career? What does my next work family look like? ❓❔❓ For context, I was one of few “lone wolves” amidst many tight-knit Recruiting teams present at the event. It’s only been a month, but I miss having coworkers to connect with regularly. I’ve learned to enjoy the solitude, but I’m a Recruiter for Pete’s sake! Connecting with people is what I do! 🤝 From my many conversations with other TA professionals yesterday, there’s a general fear about job security for Recruiters. Layoffs are common and sudden. When telling my story, I was met with looks of pity and wishes of good luck in “today’s scary market”. 😱 I went from being hopeful, to worried, to downright scared about my future and financial security over the course of a few hours. 😣 Today? I left the negative thoughts with yesterday and I’m trusting that the universe will provide. I’m reflecting on the things I learned at Hire Connect yesterday and how I can use what I learned to bring immediate value to my next employer. 😌 It’s going to be 75° here in Denver… I’m taking a break from the search and I’m going to enjoy Mother Nature… while the trails are empty! Unemployment perks, amiright?? ⛰️ There’s always a silver lining. ⛅️ What we tell ourselves matters. If the negative thoughts start to creep up, take a break, enjoy some self-care, refocus. I can only speak from experience how much this helps. All we can do is try to bounce back quickly. Resiliency is the name of the game! 🧘🏽♀️ Good luck to all my fellow TA professionals looking for their next opportunity. Our time will come! 💪🏼🫡

💥 Leadership & Management Program Manager | ⭐️ Higher Education Consultant | 👩🏻🏫 Human Capital Research
📆 Over the weekend, I shared a positive experience with a talent acquisition professional. As a professional who is #opentowork, I have faced my share of not-so-positive interactions with recruiters, including being ghosted. 😲 ➕ This post serves as a reminder that positive experiences in the job market are possible and that we can collectively work to change the narrative for job seekers. Let's celebrate the rockstars in talent acquisition who prioritize candidate experience and strive to make the process more transparent and efficient, even if it does not result in an offer. Earlier this week, I had another fantastic experience with a talent acquisition professional at one of the organizations I would like to join. I interacted with them last July and reached out with a general question about the organization's return to work program. I was most impressed by two things: 1️⃣ They responded to my email inquiry within 24 hours. WHAT!!!! 2️⃣ They recalled my previous interest in the program and assured me I was on the program team's radar, AND... asked if I would like to provide an updated resume. 💎 What a gem of a professional! ❓ Has anyone else had a positive experience recently with a recruiter/ TA professional? Let's share our positive stories and support one another in this challenging job market. #talentacquisition #appreciationmatters #positivevibesonly #leadershipinaction

Recruiters - now is your time to shine. This year has wrecked havoc on so many professionals. And many times, we are a lifeline. We are someone who can share a story beyond a resume. We are someone who can cut through the noise of hundreds of applicants, and we are someone who can remind candidates that they are still the same phenomenal candidate they were before any layoff. If you’ve been impacted, the worst thing you can do is let that narrative define you. It causes negativity to riddle your story, when in reality, the market went sideways and you are in great company. So, candidates, stand strong and confident in what you’ve accomplished. And recruiters, do your job well, people are people. The best matches aren’t always the most obvious. #leadershiphiring #startuphiring #peoplehelpingpeople

What are your thoughts on the 'Open to Work' banner? A contact of mine asked this question recently. My opinion has always been neutral—if it helps someone find work, I'm all for it. My approach to recruitment is simple: focus on the talent and fit for the role, regardless of whether someone has the green banner or not. In the past, there has been much debate about it. When I am sourcing, it signals a green light that someone is ready and open to new challenges. The banner has never deterred me but rather drawn me to a profile because it simply stands out due to its design. 🙂 ❤️ 🔥 I was sourcing for a Senior Marketing Manager for an HRtech company. NOT ONCE did the hiring manager balk at the green banner. She actually hired someone with it! Being honest and open about where you stand doesn’t diminish your value in recruiting. The bottom line is, if you're the right fit, companies will be interested (my experience). You are enhancing your visibility in a crowded job market. Let me tell you, there's no greater feeling than helping someone find work, especially if they've been searching for months. Congrats to Tyson Jurgens for securing a new role within 3 months :) #recruiting #opentowork #successstories #hrtech
