See below for the latest news from the Class40 IBSA!
The Rolex Fastnet Race Cherbourg started yesterday with definitely challenging weather conditions: 40 knots of wind, steep waves and strong currents. The Class40 IBSA is in a good position, in the top 10. However, the race is still long. In the next few hours ALBERTO BONA and his crew will encounter the mythical and legendary lighthouse, the Fastnet Rock, after which the regatta is named and which, for many navigators, represents a dream. 🔷 Watch today's video-news here and find out more: https://lnkd.in/dHBu_yNw #IBSA #CaringInnovation #sailingintothefuture #together #sailing #sustainability

We are delighted to announce Lee (Frank) Spencer BEM will be The SHE Show North East 2024 After Dinner Key Note Speaker! The SHE Show North East Networking Evening Dinner will be taking place the evening prior to the show. 🗓 Monday 18th March 2024 📍Hilton Newcastle Gateshead For more information visit: ➡️ https://lnkd.in/evBTAdrX Lee’s personal story is one of courage, inspiration and so much more! Lee had a fulfilling 24-year career as a Royal Marine Commando. After coming through three operational tours of Afghanistan unscathed, Lee lost his right leg after being hit by an engine block as he was helping a motorist who had crashed into the central reservation of the M3 in Surrey in 2014. Although his right leg was severed in the impact, the serviceman’s training kicked in and he was able to instruct bystanders on how to tie a tourniquet and help paramedics to save his life. In 2015, Lee set-off to row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean in just a rowing boat. The Row2Recovery team of four injured veterans had just 3 legs between them. In February 2016, some 46 days, 6 hours and 49 minutes later they rowed into Antigua and the record books as the world’s first physically disabled crew of four to row any ocean. Following this, Lee became the world’s first physically disabled person to row from mainland Europe to mainland South America solo and unsupported. Lee Spencer, The Rowing Marine, broke the able bodied record by an astonishing 36 days and also broke the record for the longest solo and unsupported ocean row by a physically disabled person, a total of 3 Guinness World records. #TheSHEshow #TheSHEshowNE #Safety #Health #Environment #Conference #Exhibition #OvercomingAdversity #Resilience #MentalHealth #Wellbeing #Behaviour #BehaviourScience #CultureChange #ClimateChange #Sustainability #SocialValue #InspirationalLeadership #LegalUpdates

Here is the video playlist of my trip to Truk Lagoon, June 2024. This is some intense advanced technical wreck diving. Operation Hailstone was a massive United States Navy air and surface attack on Truk Lagoon on 17–18 February 1944, conducted as part of the American offensive drive against the Imperial Japanese Navy in the Pacific Ocean theatre. Truk was a major Japanese naval base in the Pacific. Many Japanese ships were caught at anchor with only the islands' anti-aircraft guns for defense against the U.S. carrier planes. Some vessels outside the lagoon already steaming towards Japan were attacked by U.S. submarines and sunk before they could make their escape. Still others, attempting to flee via the atoll's North Pass, were bottled up by aerial attack and by Admiral Spruance's surface force, Task Group 50.9, which circumnavigated Truk, bombarding shore positions and engaging enemy ships. The Japanese fleet was decimated, more than 80 ships were put on the sea floor. Truk, as a strategic base for Japan became irrelevant after the attack. Today, this site is known as the "wreck diving capital of the world". https://lnkd.in/epaXF6sx #tdidivers

Did you know today, July 25, is Carousel Day? Most of us have been to a fair or carnival and have been on or at least seen a carousel. You know, that ride that spins slowly in a circle with the riders sitting on mechanical horses or other animals? Ya, that one. But did you know that the carousel is one of the oldest carnival rides and it dates back to the 12th century? Not only that, but it wasn't even a form of entertainment. It was actually used for combat training by Turkish and Arabian crusaders. By the mid 19th century, this became the modern ride we know today. The carousel, while I think it can be a beautiful work of art, I'm not the biggest fan of it. I'm more of a thrill seeker when it comes to rides at a fair, carnival, or theme park. What is your take on a carousel? Fan or no? #CarouselDay #NationalMerryGoRoundDay #Carnival #Carousel #HRProfessional #Recruiter
