Protecting biodiversity and safeguarding the planet holds crucial significance for businesses. From the raw materials we source, to the products we manufacture, and the services we provide, we depend on stable and resilient ecosystems to operate effectively. With vast global reach and significant influence, corporate enterprises are at a critical juncture to either exacerbate this crisis, or contribute to a solution. At adm Group, we recognize this responsibility, and are committed to charting a pathway towards a more biodiverse-friendly future. On the #InternationalDayOfBiodiversty, hear from Senior Sustainability Manager Ali Nora Pellegrino how we are stepping up to the challenge and continuing to embed biodiversity into the heart of our sustainability commitments. https://lnkd.in/ew5hpBqe #Biodiversity #Sustainability #SustainableBusiness #FromPurposeToImpact

Our Global Sustainability Working Group presented an internal roundtable webinar discussion on the increasingly important topic of Biodiversity with presenters including Josh Markham from Tonkin + Taylor New Zealand, Stéphanie Le Bonniec with HPC INTERNATIONAL SAS France, and Katrin Tomova with denkstatt Bulgaria, moderated by Laura Kirkvold, Antea Group USA Biodiversity risk and decline equals a financial and economic risk to businesses as these organizations rely on natural resources to deliver their products and services. Many companies are now required to measure and act on their biodiversity impact with regulations coming and rapidly developing. Not only are these requirements driving action in biodiversity topics, but companies themselves are seeing the importance of leading in this space and getting ahead of customer and stakeholder expectations. Our Global Working Groups enable discussion and knowledge sharing across locations and companies to better serve our multinational clients with these innovative services and tools. More and more businesses are understanding the importance of introducing corporate sustainability initiatives 🌍 But did you know that only 6% of these relate to biodiversity? While some businesses are looking at incorporating nature preservation and regeneration methods as part of their sustainability strategy, this is relatively low down on companies' agendas. This suggests that nature and biodiversity are still yet to be fully recognised as a key part of environmental action. We're helping to play our part at Veolia by introducing biodiversity initiatives across a range of our locations, including installing living walls and using technology to monitor the variety of animal species aound our sites 🐦 What is your business doing to improve biodiversity? Let us know in the comments! #Biodiversity #EcologicalTransformation

Let me tell you a bit more about Project Sterna… “PROJECT STERNA presents a proactive approach to sustainability, enhancing societal commitment in alignment with the Global Biodiversity Framework and the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.” Yes, I know it looks quite obvious, but you will better understand on my next post explaining a bit more about it :-)

It can seem overwhelming to add the nature and biodiversity crisis to ESG considerations, but with over half of the world's GDP moderately or highly dependent on nature, we can't afford to ignore it. Camilla Drejer's article with The Economist gives a brief, easily understood overview of the crisis, the business case for addressing it, and why we must take action now rather than fearing the perceived uncertainty of the agenda.

It's time to change the conversation around sustainability. 🌎 In a recent interview with The Economist, I dive into why businesses need to move nature and biodiversity up on their priority list. Find out what it truly means to be nature-positive, how technology can assist in biodiversity conservation, and why acting now, however imperfect, is vital.
