Laser precision hiring tech: 2w to fill ANY role | The fastest creator of business-level MVPs in the world | 11 y CTO/CPO | 13 year BA | 15 MVPs built solo | Vehicle Damage Claim Software | 300+ softwares designed/led
Want to laugh at me? I didn't know the difference between "Product" and "Engineering" until about a year ago... I never worked in the corporate sector. I worked as a Tester in a 100 person company. Then I worked as a Business Analyst in a 9 person company. Then it's been "Startup world" since then. I just DID all of the product aspects of software design, without realizing they were considered "product". I saw the job title "Product Owner" and thought "what the heck is that?" Is that the owner of the business? It can't be, it's on a job board. Is that a Business Analyst? Sort of, but not exactly... So what is it? Then I saw "Chief Product Officer"... What's that? The person ensure the Product is going where it should be. "But that's literally what I've been doing for 10 years..." I've also been a CTO. But I've been gathering business requirements. Creating specs. Optimizing user experiences. Ensuring the product solves the business needs. It turned out all this time I was directly the product vision. I thought that was what a CTO did. But nope. Many CTOs HATE doing that. There's a "product" role for that. And it so happens that most tech companies STRUGGLE with that even more. And I can execute on that to perfection. I came to this realism in a conversation with Oshri Cohen Don't be ashamed to not know things. Be ashamed when you don't try to learn.

Well, unfortunately the companies who are hiring, doesn’t look the requirements or job description in this way. Perhaps, TAGs believe being concise helps to get them more qualified individuals, yet not understanding that a Product Manager is capable of performing various roles. This leads to a dead lock situation for the ones who are looking for a promising career from Product Management. This is the time to realise and hire someone who is willing and passionate about product management and jack of all trades! #productmanagement #productmanagers #productowners #businessanalysis #businessanalyst

🤔 Hiring Product Ops? What are your problems to solve ❓ Several months ago I had an interesting discussion with a fellow Product Ops professional (and I forget who, so if you are reading this, hit me up and I will edit!) about the reasons for hiring a Product Ops Manager or similar. Like good product people, it got us thinking about the problems to be solved and drilling into those questions to ask ourselves before embarking on a Product Operations hire. 🗺 Do we use data well in our decision-making for our product roadmap, strategy and planning? 📈 Do we have easy access to data/dashboards to monitor our product use, high-level sales and customer information, division or business KPIs and progress? After learning this product management anti-pattern I see it more and more: [job title 1] AND product manager I learned this from Silicon Valley Product Group - shout out to Christian! Product Management is a proper craft, discipline, and full time job in itself. If someone had a job title of Sr. Accountant AND QA Analyst, some folks may think that one of those roles is being neglected. It would be hard to tell from the outside looking in, no insult intended to anyone with composite positions such as that. There could be neglect in terms of bandwidth, but it also calls into question how much of each of those disparate skills the person actually possess. Especially when those job families have have responsibilities that do not overlap in typical daily operations. When there is an overlap between responsibility (E.g. Producer AND Product Manager) usually it means there is a conflict of interest created when combining roles. This erodes the "checks and balances" each role is meant to provide in the grand scheme of product development. Job title families need to be respected as robust arts and sciences unto themselves. This will help companies hire the correct amount of roles, and the correct people for said roles. #pm #product #producer
