Team Leader, Purchasing

This role is based in our Charlotte office, and reports to the Purchasing Manager.

Job Purpose

The Team Leader, Purchasing role will be responsible for managing a team of Buyers at one across multiple IPEX facilities. The successful candidate will train/coach/mentor teams of purchasing professionals; provide expertise in negotiation, implement industry best practices and improve current process and procedures. The candidate will also lead continuous improvement opportunities through their team to support department & company strategic goals

Key Responsibilities

• Responsible for assigning purchasing activities for product portfolios for a team of Buyers
• Manage individual performance to established departmental goals
• Conduct reviews with each Buyer and local management team
• Active in overseeing the supplier selection & rationalization, cost negotiations and inventory management
• Implement supply strategy resulting in achievement of cost, inventory and delivery targets. This will include back plans for business continuity.
• Support creation, reporting and analysis of monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
• Initiate, drive and support continuous improvement ideas with the team
• Provide team leadership to advance the overall capabilities of the Procurement and Supply Chain Management group by supporting a collaborative model, including the sharing of knowledge and best practices
• Ensure teams are managing and monitoring product complaints and resolutions
• Train new employees on IPEX processes and systems
• Develop strong relationships with cross functional teams (Innovation, Sales, Engineering, Quality, and Plant Management)
• Support team members as they are involved in the product introduction initiatives through IPEX’s Stage Gate/AIM processes
• Provide subject matter expertise on purchasing systems
• Participate in cross-functional teams representing supply chain to provide knowledge and input to the business to help formulate contract strategies and execution
  
  

Job Requirements

• 7+ years proven purchasing experience showing progressive responsibilities over time
• Post –Secondary Education in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration
• Professional purchasing accreditation is an asset/preferred
• Strong knowledge and experience operating within global supply chains
• Excellent knowledge of sourcing & procurement techniques
• Experience leading a team
• Demonstrated ability to influence both within and outside of the individual’s direct scope of responsibility in order to achieve overall business objectives
• Implementation of ERP/MRP an asset
• Resourceful, diplomatic, customer service oriented with excellent interpersonal skills
• Advanced user: Microsoft Office/Excel
• Strong analytical, decision-making & problem-solving skills
• Strong Data mining/Pivot Table experience would be a definite asset
• Well-developed organization and prioritization skills; detailed oriented
• Willing to embrace changes with positive attitude
• Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines
• Creates & thrives in a collaborative work environment, positive attitude
• This position will require some travel between IPEX locations and to supplier sites.
