Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Validation/Test Engineer to join our team in La Crosse, WI, for an exciting 6-month project with potential for extension. This role involves supporting the validation lab testing of HVAC systems, specifically due to refrigerant change requirements. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in Mechanical Engineering, with significant experience in HVAC systems, refrigeration, heat transfer, and airflow.
Key Responsibilities
Lab Validation and Testing: Develop test plans, conduct and support validation testing in the lab for prototype HVAC products, analyze data, and review results to ensure accuracy and reliability.
Model Calibration: Collaborate with the simulation team to calibrate models using in-house software tools. Understand HVAC system dynamics, including refrigeration, heat transfer, and airflow.
Performance Modeling: Apply engineering principles to model and simulate chiller system performance, predict unit efficiency and reliability.
Issue Resolution: Identify and troubleshoot technical issues during the validation process, propose and implement effective solutions.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with various engineering teams, including Compressor Engineering, Thermal Systems, Controls Engineering, and Manufacturing, to integrate components and support product design.
Risk Management: Conduct Design Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), develop and execute risk mitigation plans to ensure product reliability and quality.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred).
Experience: At least 5 years of relevant engineering experience, specifically in HVAC systems, refrigeration, heat transfer, and airflow.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in prototype lab validation testing, understanding of HVAC equipment and systems.
Nice To Have
Design/Application Experience: Familiarity with thermodynamic computations, pressure vessel design, compressor, motor, and controls technologies.
Analytical Skills: Experience with data analytics, data-driven decision making, and programming.
Knowledge of HVAC simulation tools and in-house software.
