We're currently looking for a Systems Research Intern to join our Mobility Services team. This position will be located at the Nissan Advanced Technology Center Silicon Valley (NATC-SV, located in Santa Clara, CA).
NATC-SV works at the cutting edge of transportation technology, helping define the future of mobility. We are researchers, scientists, engineers, and makers that collaborate with world class technical groups and leadership in Japan, Europe, North America, and beyond.
The Mobility Services Team brings together researchers, AI experts, software engineers to works on developing services (onboard / offboard) for our connected and autonomous vehicles to improve mobility for everybody.
Job Responsibilities
During your internship, you will have the chance to research and develop optimization algorithms that develop our platform in the following areas:

Salary Range Estimate: $44.00-$48.00/hr. This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the salary range for the job's grade level. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include, among other things, your specific skills, your work location, how many years of experience you have, and comparison to other employees already in this role.

Job Responsibilities
During your internship, you will have the chance to research and develop optimization algorithms that develop our platform in the following areas:
- Develop new models for route planning (e.g. time accurate routing)
- Develop heuristics for constraint based routing and real time update framework from various data sources (e.g. fleet / infrastructure / traffic data.)
- Engineering new software modules for mapping and routing that integrate off-board systems with the fleet of connected & autonomous vehicles.
Job Knowledge and Skills:
To qualify for this role, you must:
- Currently be pursuing a master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Mechanical, Software Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or a related field
- GPA of 3.0 or above
- Strong C++ or Python coding ability
- Strong organization ability with keen attention to detail
- Be self-motivated and willing to challenge yourself to develop your talents and skillsets
- Strong communication skills both written and oral
