Supplier Quality Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Supplier Quality Specialist to join our manufacturing company. As a Supplier Quality Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and reliability of the products and materials supplied by our vendors and suppliers. Your primary responsibility will be to develop, implement, and maintain effective quality control processes and standards for our suppliers, ensuring their compliance with our company's quality requirements. You will work closely with our procurement team, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and maintain a high level of product quality throughout our supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Supplier Evaluation and Approval:
  • Assess potential suppliers based on their capabilities, quality management systems, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to evaluate supplier proposals, negotiate quality agreements, and make informed decisions regarding supplier selection and approval.

Quality Control Processes

  • Develop and implement robust quality control processes and procedures for incoming materials and components.
  • Define and communicate quality expectations, specifications, and inspection criteria to suppliers.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance, conducting regular audits and inspections to ensure compliance with quality standards.

Supplier Development And Performance Improvement

  • Collaborate with suppliers to address quality issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide feedback to suppliers on their performance.
  • Work closely with suppliers to drive continuous improvement initiatives and support their quality management system enhancements.

Supplier Relationship Management

  • Foster strong relationships with suppliers, serving as the primary point of contact for quality-related matters.
  • Regularly communicate with suppliers to address concerns, resolve disputes, and maintain open lines of communication.
  • Provide guidance and support to suppliers regarding quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements.

Documentation And Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of supplier quality activities, including inspections, audits, and performance metrics.
  • Generate reports and present data to management, highlighting supplier quality trends, issues, and improvement opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality management, or a related field.

Skills & Requirements

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using quality management software and tools.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to conduct supplier audits and inspections.
  • Proven experience in a supplier quality role within a manufacturing environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of quality management systems, methodologies, and tools (e.g., ISO 9001, Six Sigma).
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to supplier quality.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective corrective actions.
