Role: Supplier Quality Engineer
Location: Southborough, MA
Duration: Long Term
The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will be responsible for ensuring the product or service provided by vendors maintains an important level of quality that meets both Upstart and customer’s expectation.
Specific Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct receiving inspection on raw material.
Lead corrective actions as required from supplier 8D’s or non-conformance reports.
Lead the implementation of the Supplier Quality Manual to the supply base.
Evaluation and selection of world class suppliers/contract manufacturers in safety, quality, delivery, and cost
Perform Supplier audits (QMS, Process and Product), capacity analysis and determine supplier core competencies to ensure work is placed properly.
Work with suppliers to continuously improve performance, implement process controls and develop quality assurance plans.
Develop suppliers in the areas of ISO 9001 compliance, Six Sigma methods, Value Stream mapping, standard work, 5-S, Kanban and other ENERDEL Business System tools for preventative action, corrective action, and continuous improvement
Responsible to be a liaison between cross functional teams, and to review and approve PPAP’s from suppliers for submission to the Manufacturing Teams and Customers
Prepare and submit supplier report cards, action plans and the Approved Supplier List as required.
Conduct in-depth review and follow-up on the implementation of supplier action plans for poor operational performance.
Work with suppliers to devise sampling procedures and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
Work closely with Purchasing / Supply Chain function to report monthly KPI to monitor Supplier Performance (PPM, OTD etc.)
Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skill & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience
4 years of experience in Supplier Management with hands on manufacturing environment
Experience with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System
Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work with multiple departments to measure and implement change.
Ability to read engineering drawings.
Ability to work independently to accomplish objectives.
