This position is for a Supplier Quality Engineer role to join a growing team with our client. As an important part of the Supplier Management Services team, you will actively be providing critical value to our customers by helping to drive APQP activities at suppliers to meet the client's operational goals.
This role will work with the team, as well as our major transportation customer, to coordinate with suppliers to drive APQP activities, follow up with suppliers in part development in a timely manner, evaluate PPAP documentation and align with client (Parker) Quality requirements, conduct onsite Supplier onboarding.
Additionally, Process and Product audits will be required, analyzing quality issues, work on RCA and corrective actions closure, and constant follow up with suppliers to ensure they support FAI, PPAP, etc. in a timely manner. Knowledge of PPAP, Supplier Audit, 7QC Tool, 8D, SPC, Gauge R&R etc., as well as driving other key quality initiatives.
This is considered a onsite working position, and at times at Supplier sites. This position supports a 6-month project.
Primary Responsibilities
Work with suppliers to monitor and document issues and barriers faced in day-to-day operations.
Utilize PPAP core elements (PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow, Control Plans, etc.) to identify and make recommendations for managing risk in product development.
Manage quality processes to ensure all requirements are met for work transfer and process change management, including gate reviews, Manufacturing Readiness Level Planning and PPAP acceptance.
Make continuous improvement recommendations to support defect reduction metrics
Ensure customer compliance standards are met, including process control documentation
Communicate status reports to and customer leadership.
Conduct supplier quality performance assessments. Track performance and improvement over time.
Identify supplier quality risks and help drive risk mitigation plans.
Be empowered to execute supplier operational improvement initiatives
Implements corrective action plans for any identified supplier process gaps
Regularly presents supplier performance progress, action items, challenges, risks, and progress to key internal and external stakeholders.
Adheres to import, export, and procurement regulations.
This role requires occasional travel to suppliers as needed.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of relevant experience
Direct experience with PPAP in the aerospace industry
Preferred Qualifications
An understanding of engineering outsourcing business practices
In-depth understanding of AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality systems
ASQ (CQE, CQM) certifications
Experience with escape management procedures (ZDP) and RRCAs
Demonstrated knowledge of and proficiency with quality tools such as FAI, PFMEA, DFMEA, GR&R, GD&T elements
Working knowledge of APQP, MRL, and QCPC
Experience drafting technical documents, such as Work Instructions, Inspection Plans, etc.
Exposure to key quality tools, such as DAISE, 8D, DIVE, PDCS, LEAN, 6-Sigma, etc.
Knowledge of various manufacturing processes
