Job Description: Supplier Development Engineer
Job Responsibilities
Partner with Neapco global divisions to identify, develop, launch, and maintain supply base that aligns with global sourcing strategy
Lead new program launches with supply base ensuring alignment with the Supplier APQP (Advanced Product & Quality Planning) process and Neapco requirements to develop suppliers and products to the point of successful/on-time PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and full production readiness
Lead supplier PPAP process, validating accuracy of all quality documentation and process data
Validate and approve supplier changes, manufacturing processes, and quality systems
Provide technical assistance in developing quality systems and other support as needed, partnering with suppliers to improve quality performance
Performs capability assessments with key suppliers to evaluate the application of advanced quality tools, manufacturing capabilities, material management, and lean maturity
Support Neapco divisions and supply base through containment, root cause analysis, and long-term corrective actions during critical delivery or quality issues
Manage global supplier database, performance and scorecard systems, as well as required corrective actions
Develop, improve, and document standardized global supplier development processes
Support efforts to identify and qualify new suppliers
Ensure suppliers obtain or maintain applicable certifications (i.e. IATF 16949, CQI9, etc.) Perform annual supplier audits as required.
Understand part characteristics, processes, and required process controls to monitor and achieve required specifications
Qualifications/Skills
Minimum of five (5) years of Supplier Development experience in automotive components, preferably driveline or similar products & processes
Process areas of special emphasis include castings, forgings, heat treat, precision machining, injection/blow molding, spline forming (pressing, rolling, broaching), painting, and assembly
Ability to read blueprints and determine product specifications
Demonstrated proficiency with automotive core tools including APQP, statistical process control, FMEA, measurement systems analysis, and PPAP.
Audit experience/certification in IATF/VDA/CQI
Excellent problem-solving skills
Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment, within time constraints, and support emergency response teams
Strong project management skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and tasks
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Spanish and English
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience in ERP (Plex) a plus
1-2 weeks travel per month required
Education
Bachelor’s Degree required, Engineering major preferred
