Airbus Commercial Aircraft is looking for a Fatigue & Damage Tolerance Analysis / Static Stress Engineer to join our Engineering department based in Wichita, Kansas.

You will be part of a team that supports the airline in-service fleet on repairs of aircraft structure and is responsible for quality justifications from a fatigue and damage tolerance point of view in a timely manner.

Duties include performing complex F&DT analysis for metallic parts while working in close collaboration with design and static stress colleagues to provide repair solutions.

Methods include the use of both classical hand calculations and computer techniques to develop efficient repair solutions to satisfy airworthiness requirements and customers (Airlines/MROs).

This position initially will be on a regular shift. It does require working a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends on a rotating basis throughout the year.

Located on the Wichita State University (WSU) innovation campus is Airbus’ first dedicated engineering facility outside of Europe. Our team of 200+ support staff and engineers focus on aerostructure design including analysis of aircraft primary structures, such as wings and fuselages, for all major Airbus products across the globe.

Your challenges:

● Create high quality integrated and certified engineering repair solutions for the airlines and internal customers within given time scales.

● Perform analyses to assess that structural integrity requirements have been met using standard hand and computer methods.

● Document analyses in support of trade studies or detail drawing sign-out for airframe structure.

● Ensure all tasks and activities required are correctly planned, monitored and executed to achieve customer time scales.

● Identify and support local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through process, methods and tools improvements.

● Liaise with appropriate Airbus departments to come up with optimum solutions.

● Liaise with other engineers in order to ensure that methods, assumptions, data and procedures reflect on-going developments.

● Contact customers, suppliers, and/or subcontractors to exchange technical data and to discuss project performance.

● Provide responses for routine repair queries by giving guidance as required within Airbus Operations and Customer Services in a clear and concise manner.

● Ensure, with the relevant technical signature delegation, that the final repair solution brings the aircraft back into an airworthy condition.


Your boarding pass:

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis, mechanics of materials, and/or system design is required.
  • Minimum 6 years total structure analysis experience in airframe design/repair programs
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
  • Ability to interpret and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and bill of material systems.
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • Dependable, self-motivated and accessible.
  • Knowledge of maintenance repair shop practices, equipment and capabilities.
  • A strong computer background, including MS Office application experience (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Suite application experience (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail).
  • Authorized to Work in the US

Preferred

  • MRO/Fleet Engineering experience
  • MRB experience
  • Proficiency with G-Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) a plus.
  • Proficiency with coding in Python a plus.
  • Conversational in French and/or German is a plus, but not required.
