Summary
DAWSON has an opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer in Qatar. The Sr. Systems Engineer will perform technical evaluations, analysis, and troubleshooting for all supported computing environments; build servers by providing technical configuration, setup, installation services, hardware and coordination of application projects; and operate and maintain servers and software. This position is integral to engineering and deploying a secure computing environment for a foreign ally customer that introduces new capabilities and incorporates existing capabilities across multiple enclaves. Additionally, this position is a blend of architectural planning and technical implementation. This challenging large-scale opportunity supports the foreign military operations in a small to medium size Enterprise. The Sr. Systems Engineer will be installing, configuring, and maintaining the Windows and VMware computing environment to include operation systems, applications, and security posture.
Salary Range: $120,000 - $146,000
Duties And Responsibilities
Apply Information Technology (IT) expertise, including feasibility studies, technical evaluation, justification, architecture development, design engineering, installation, implementation, management, and administration of IT systems.
Install, configure, and maintain MS Windows desktop and server systems, including operating procedures and security policy compliance, as they relate to the various platforms and related physical and virtual infrastructures.
Maintain and execute the backup and recovery procedures for the server, storage, networking, and virtualization infrastructure; participate in business continuity activities and exercises.
Perform trend analysis, capacity and availability management, and developing and reporting metrics for management regarding the health of the infrastructure.
Manage WSUS, apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure/add new services as necessary.
Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configure CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
Ensure information assurance policies, principles, and practices are followed in the delivery of enterprise, data, and network services.
Use vulnerability scanning tools (such as DISA’s Security Content Automation Protocol (SCAP), Nessus).
Assists in assessment and maintenance of system security assessments and reporting.
Possess solid understanding of provisioning hardware and storage, TCP/IP networking, application layer protocols, load balancing/high availability design, and system architecture principles.
Assist in the creation of technical documentation in support of systems.
Requirements And Qualifications
Required Clearance: Active DoD Secret or above
Bachelor of Science degree or higher from an accredited university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Systems Engineering, or related field is preferred
Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience as a systems engineer
Experience managing MS Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, IP Address Management, Network Time Protocol, Print and File Services, and MS Exchange
Experience managing VMware vSphere and vRealize Suite
Experience in mentoring and performing knowledge transfer to junior team members
DOD 8570.01M, IAT Level II certification (CySA+, Security+, CCNA-Security, etc.)
Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MSCE) or equivalent
Ability to work independently or on a global team in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Must be knowledgeable in Information Assurance (IA) and incident response to identify recommendations to facilitate
Advanced investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Ability to appropriately balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables
Ability to quickly adapt to new methods, work under tight deadlines and stressful conditions
Ability to work well within a small team environment
Ability to work with foreign nationals

Additional remarks regarding work environment:
Candidate must be a US Citizen with a valid US Passport and valid State driver’s license
Must have an active or be able to obtain a US Secret or Higher DoD security clearance
Candidate must be able to travel to and live in Qatar for a minimum of one year
Candidate must be in good health with no pre-existing health issues impeding overseas work requirements/environment.
Candidates must successfully pass overseas medical and dental health assessments
Candidate must be able to obtain foreign country clearance(s) for Visa entries
