Senior Research Associate, Protein Sciences – Antibody Therapy Company

An award winning, unique, well-funded, privately held clinical-stage biotechnology company with a novel Antibody Therapy platform is seeking a highly motivated individual to join their Protein Sciences efforts. The company was established in 2019 and has made significant progress in programs with wide therapeutic application in Inflammation, Cardiovascular diseases, and Cancer. It boasts of an intellectually stimulating, positive and collaborative environment with stellar academic and industry leaders as cofounders.
Job Summary and Responsibilities
- Expression and purification of proteins from milligram to gram scale using FPLC (AKTA)
- Maintenance and expansion bacterial/mammalian cell cultures for DNA prep and protein expression
- Routine cloning and plasmid preparation
- Support post-purification quality assessment of biologics
- Maintain primary laboratory equipment, a detailed electronic lab notebook and data entry
- Represent the Protein Sciences Team collaborating with a diverse group of scientists, supporting several exciting pipelines.
Position Requirements
- B.S. (with 4 years) or M.S. (with 2 years) experience in biochemistry, biophysics, chemistry or related field, with pharmaceutical / biotech experience preferred; position offered will be commensurate with experience
- Proficiency in protein purification techniques (AKTA FPLC, affinity, IMAC, preparative SEC, etc.). Strong preference for experience with AKTA FPLC.
- Proficiency in cell culture (bacterial/mammalian) i.e. transformation/transfection (HEK/CHO)
- Familiarity with molecular biology techniques (Gibson cloning, plasmid prep, sequence analysis)
- Familiarity with limited QC of proteins (endotoxin assay, analytical SEC, DSF, MST, SDS-PAGE/CE-SDS)
- Familiarity in mass spectrometry (intact or peptide mapping) is considered a plus.
- Ability to work independently and plan/organize experiments and communicate results accordingly
- Strong interpersonal communication skills, presentation skills and ability to thrive in an agile and team-oriented matrix environment, communicating with colleagues across functions and disciplines
- Ability to learn new skills, adapt to challenges in a fast-paced environment and provide significant input into the design and direction of projects
