Senior Research Associate – Immunology
Deciduous Therapeutics is an early-stage, venture-backed biotechnology company based in San Francisco, CA. Our mission is to develop novel drugs that activate the endogenous immune system to eliminate senescent cells for treating age-related diseases in the fibrosis and metabolic therapeutic areas.
We are looking for a highly ambitious Senior Research Associate to join our team on location in San Francisco. This is an opportunity to significantly impact the trajectory and success of the company. This will be a highly cross-functional role across research and operations, reporting directly to a Senior Research Scientist.
About the position
We are seeking an exceptional SRA with 4+ years of industry experience to join our growing team. You will be responsible for conducting scientific research and experiments related to immune cell activation and evaluating novel immune stimulants using in vivo and in vitro modeling. Your responsibilities include performing experiments, developing immune-based assays, and analyzing data. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and contribute to the advancement of therapeutics in the field of age-related diseases.
Education Minimum Requirements
- MS in immunology, cell biology, or related biomedical science with 4+ years of industry experience.
- BSc in immunology, cell biology or related biomedical sciences with 6+ years of industry experience.
Key Responsibilities
- You will primarily be responsible for the development and execution of in-vivo, ex-vivo, as well as in-vitro studies in discovery research to support the advancement of Deciduous’ small molecule and other modalities in Deciduous therapeutic pipeline.
- You will help generate and analyze functional in-vitro and in-vivo data in order to rank therapeutic candidates for preclinical development.
- You will be required to dose rodents with multiple agents via IP, SQ, or IV.
- You will be required isolate immune cells from different tissues, culture the immune cells ex-vivo, and perform multi-color flow to phenotype the immune landscape.
- You will collaborate with team members to refine assay protocols and increase the efficiency and reliability of data output.
- You will work closely with other research associates and scientists to ensure seamless integration of assay development and testing within the project's framework.
- You will ensure laboratory compliance with safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
Required Experience and Skills
- Strong background in immunology, particularly T-cell biology, innate immune system, or related expertise.
- Direct hands-on experience with high-dimensional flow cytometry is required.
- Working experience with animal handling and executing in-vivo and ex-vivo experiments.
- Experience in plate-based immunoassays (ELISA, Luminex, MSD, and Cytometric Beed Array) and molecular assays (qPCR, western blots).
- Experience performing functional T-cell assays (e.g., activation and proliferation, cytokine secretion, differentiation, target cell killing) is preferred.
- Proficiency in flow cytometry analysis and acquisition software, Flowjo, and GraphPad Prism.
- Excellent record-keeping skills and familiarity with assay documentation and data annotation using electronic lab notebooks (ELNs).
- Highly organized with excellent problem-solving and project management skills.
