Senior Principal Engineer

Impact

As our Senior Principal Engineer you will be responsible for leading the design, development, and implementation of complex software systems. While no two days will be the same you’ll work with our Distinguished, Senior Principal, and Principal Engineers to provide guidance, inputs, and decisions on technical solutions. You will promote and advocate for engineering best practices and drive for high quality technical solutions. You’ll partner across the organization with Product, User Experience, Data Sciences, and Marketplace stakeholders to listen, understand, and help shape Shipt’s technology strategy. This role is crucial in driving innovation, maintaining high coding standards, and ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of our products.

What You’ll Need to Be Successful

• Understand ecommerce and digital retail from a business and product perspective
• Ability to understand strategies and distill them into technical solutions and priorities.
• Ability to bring along all stakeholders inside and outside of technology organization to communicate their intentions and strategies through both verbal and written means.
• Champion an inclusive and positive engineering culture
• 10+ Years of Software Development Experience
• Assist Principal Engineers in leading the design and development of software applications using Golang and Python
• Promote engineering expectations and best practices for testing, debugging, monitoring, operating, and securing software and processes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technical requirements and project milestones
• Leverage and surface data to inform decisions and produce impactful outcomes
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers to enhance their skills and knowledge
  
  

Work Arrangement

Shipt considers candidates located near a Shipt office or workspace in Birmingham, San Francisco, or Minneapolis to be hybrid, which means that they have the flexibility to work from home (with leader approval) or at a Shipt office in order to facilitate the ability to innovate, collaborate, and spark team connections. In-office expectations will vary by role and leader. Certain roles may require in-office presence on a full-time basis. Metro Areas of Boston, District of Columbia, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and New York City:

$161,360-$322,720

All other locations:

$134,430-$268,861

Please note that the salary range above is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
