Acts as staff specialist in providing technical guidance for complex or unique design assignments that satisfy the requirements of building designs in accordance with applicable governing codes. The incumbent must be capable of applying diversified knowledge of design/ engineering principles and practices, and independently making decisions on significant design engineering problems or methods.

Requirements

• Requires a BS or MS in an Engineering discipline and typically 16+ years related experience (or equivalent working knowledge/experience).
• Professional Registration is required.
• Must be cognizant of the capabilities and limitations of various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment to effectively direct their use for diverse engineering assignments.
• Experience working in Food and Beverage, manufacturing, chemical, or light industrial industries
• Design Project experience at other Engineering or Design Build firms
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds at times.
• Must be able to walk job sites which would include the ability to clime stairs and navigate construction sites.
• The majority of work is performed indoors with occasional site visits to projects.
• Up to 10% by both air and ground travel.

• Performs detailed calculations, develops specifications, and directs the preparations of working drawings, instructions, and other related documents of a complex project of large size or multiple projects.
• May plan, schedule, coordinate, and oversee the work of lower-level engineers who assist with particular projects.
• Analyzes complex design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures.
• Consults with construction personnel concerning complex design constructability issues.
• Monitors project progress for technical accuracy and adherence to schedule and budget.
• May plan, organize, and supervise design engineering activities for a project of significant size and complexity or two or more projects of moderate size and complexity.
• Proven proficiency using Revit, Plant 3d, or similar for piping design within engineering projects.
• Develop Piping Design Criteria (code, functionality) for mid-size to large projects.
• Develop conceptual to detailed design of piping systems for process and production equipment and systems.
• Develop Piping models, Orthographic and Isometric Drawings, Materials Take Offs/ Bills of Materials for the piping designed, suitable for procurement, fabrication, construction, and installation.
• Develops designs coordinating with PFD/P&IDs, Equipment, and Instrumentation, as well as plant and utility infrastructure groups.
• Develops and reviews client specifications for piping materials, valving, and gasketing, including familiarity of chemical compatibility and good industry practices.
• Performs field walk downs of existing systems and systems during construction to as-building of drawings,
• Performs review of piping vendor submittals and drawing approval sets including leading collaboration with other in-house disciplines.
• Performs model reviews and digital walkthroughs with internal and client teams.
• Performs equipment sizing calculations and pipe stress analyses.
• Works with Process and Equipment to update and maintains piping line list, and equipment and specialty items list.
• Works with PFDs and P&IDs, including providing equipment information.
• Leads piping design effort on mid-size to large projects.
• Collaborate with other discipline leads.
• Working proficiency of the following Codes and Standards:
• ASME Power (B31.1) & Process Piping (B31.3)
• API 610, 650/620
• PIP and PSM
• International Building Code (IBC)
• Working familiarity of the following Software packages:
• Design and Review: Revit, ACC/BIM360, Plant 3D, Navisworks, Revizto, CAESAR II
• Project and Productivity: Microsoft (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams), Procore, Bluebeam
