Senior Manager, Benefits

Summary

Responsible for the evaluation, development, implementation, and maintenance of corporate benefit programs, policies and procedures. Ensures programs are competitive, attractive to employees, align with company goals, and comply with legal requirements. Manages plan costs to assure maximum coverage with cost effective outcomes for the company and employees.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of existing benefit programs through networking, participation in industry surveys, and other sources. Analyzes results of surveys and develops specific recommendations for review by management. Leads the implementation of plan changes.
  • In partnership with the company’s benefits consultants, solicits benefits providers for program quotations, evaluates submissions and makes management recommendations. Develops costs for new plans and recommends cost sharing models between employer and employee.
  • Leads the annual open enrollment process and partners with HRIS and People Services & Solutions teams to update and test the online enrolment platform.
  • Manages and delivers wellness program initiatives to drive a culture of wellbeing, promote healthy behaviors and optimize healthcare costs.
  • Responsible for retirement plan administration and compliance, including coordination of annual non-discrimination testing, regulatory filings, and plan committee meetings.
  • Prepares and executes, with legal consultation, benefit documentation such as original and amended plan texts, benefit agreements and insurance policies. Instructs insurance carriers, trustees, and other external administrative agencies to support changes in benefit programs.
  • Manages vendors responsible for plan administration of benefits to ensure plan administration in accordance with the terms of plan documents and applicable laws.
  • Assures company compliance with provisions of Employee Retirement Income Security Act and other regulatory requirements. Monitors changes to state and federal benefit laws and reports necessary or suggested changes to management.
  • Works with internal and external legal counsel on issues related to employee disability and accommodation requests. Serves as the Company HIPAA Compliance Officer.
  • Partners with the People Services & Solutions team on benefit inquiries and employee issues to ensure quick, courteous resolution. Educates HRBPs and employees on benefit programs.
  • Assists with the management of non-U.S. benefits programs within the North America region.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in human resource management or related field
  • 7+ years of Benefits or HR experience, with demonstrated in-depth knowledge of benefits compliance and regulatory requirements
  • SPHR, CBP or CEBS professional designations preferred
  • International benefits experience a plus, preferably in a multinational company or in the manufacturing industry

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience creating and working with large data sets and completing accurate spreadsheet-based analysis for deployment of programs
  • Experience with federal and state regulations affecting employee benefit programs, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, and Section 125
  • Experience in partnering and negotiating with benefits brokers and vendors
  • Strong understanding of ERISA, HIPAA, reporting requirements and governance practices
  • Ability to accomplish results within a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
